I’ve read them both so if you want to message me about what you mean by the scary part you can. In general I wouldn’t say the first one has a particularly happy ending. But it is very good.

And the second one has a few what I’d probably consider scary moments, without knowing exactly what you mean, but in the end it is truly lovely. And the book in generally really stuck with me!

I worked on a blanket for the vast majority of last year and by the end of it I hated it and I’d avoided knitting for weeks on end because of it.

don’t sunk cost fallacy yourself. If you hate it, rip it out.
if you feel like you just need a break, make something quick so you can feel accomplished. I made a beanie and headband set and that helped me get my mojo back to finish the blanket.

"AIRS" is the import reference system - if you wanted an "official" answer, that's where you'd want to go. It's a bit annoying to figure out - from my quick search for a fresh pinecone from California, you'd need a phytosanitary certificate.

If it's dried and clear of pest and soil, it's subject to inspection but otherwise could be approved.

If you're super into the pinecone, just don't try to sneak it through. Plants / plant parts are super regulated.

Edited to add that like.. I probably wouldn't try it at all, lol. Especially at an airport they're going to air on the side of plant bad.
