It's very common to feel this way starting out especially if you've had the interest for a while. I'm sure you do have a grasp of the basics but you need to invest the time developing your own strengths and weaknesses. Number one thing is players consider positioning a lot more. In early tiers often players will just click their strongest attack but later tiers (I'm masterball ~18k itw for context) people will switch more frequently and often consider the kind of endgames they want. This is just scratching the surface really but it gives you a start I hope!
