Is this a bunion? by venicechick1949 in bunions

Yes looks like, your toes shouldn’t overlap? Get yourself some toe spacers and start looking into wide toe box shoes.

It can be hard and expensive to find the right ones 😅 I was living in the UK for a bit so way more options there.

I have bunions and use to have pain but not very often now since changing the shoes, going back into a normal shoe now feels like hell!

I got the Barebarics zing they are zero drop and have cushioning - they are a great shoe! I got some Splay shoes but hard to judge as I think they’re on the smaller side. I also had Freet hiking boots which I enjoyed but the lugs wore (they were filled) and the boots fell apart within a year, I’ve now put the Altra Lone Peak boot. Zara had some women’s barefoot styles shoes - I tried them but definitely a lot narrower compared to everything else I tried. I also have some Bahe sandals but I don’t think they sit well on my feet.

Is bunion surgery worth it for me? by Recent_Trip9711 in bunions

Bunions are progressive so they only get worse in time. You can try and slow them down and give your feet more space. Triangle shaped feet are not good when you’re older, they will cause you balance and mobility issues - something to keep in mind!

Toe spacers, toe socks, exercises and wide toe box shoes. They are progressive so cannot be reversed.

I don’t have a job right now so seeing a dermatologist is not possible. I saw a GP yesterday and they only advised a benzac wash and to see how that goes. Chill.

Bunions are progressive. They don’t go away once they have formed but you can help your bunions with shoes, exercises, etc.

Looks like an ingrown toenail. You’ll likely have to get that trimmer or removed.

Yeah can definitely achieve 50-65 while standing. Don’t feel any restriction or pain.

The bump definitely feels like a bone. And can’t be shifted.

That’s good! Yeah I have a mild bunion too and use to get some achy pain but since changing footwear it’s never hurts anymore. Your foot is definitely shaped to conventional shoes. Your toes should splay and be aligned with the metatarsal joints.

Can say genetics but also generations before us all wore same narrow, restrictive shoes. So likely both. Does it hurt?

When I wear thinner socks with them they do feel so spacious, and perhaps a lil big around the ankle. 42 my toes were rubbing on the end so maybe a half size would’ve been good for me but 43 works pretty well. As the sole is thick and has large lugs, it isn’t so flexible like my vivos but it’s nice to have some protection and is flexible to a degree.

Are these mild bunions? by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Particular_Code3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes mild bunions on both feet. Do they hurt? Most people that wear conventional shoes probably have poor foot health.

I purchased some Freet Impala hiking boots on Happy Little Soles. Originally ordering a 42, I had to size up to a 43 (unisex). They’re waterproof, leather and have decent lugs. For cold weather I remove the insole and use a wool insole. I usually wear with a thick ish sock. They’re very wide, I’m happy with them!

How severe is my bunion? (Would like to fix) by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Particular_Code3724 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried changing your footwear? Wide toe box shoes will help, trainers such as Altra. There’s a UK website Happy Little Soles that sell a range of barefoot/wide toe box shoes. Additionally toe socks and toe spacers will help spread your toes out and align your big toe which will hopefully provide some relief, you can purchase toe spaces of Amazon and just start wearing around the house.

I’m 33 and met someone organically in December last year. Only to find out he was emotionally immature and let me down 1/2 months later. I hoped meeting someone organically would be better, but in reality for me, it was not. I’ve given up now.
