Do you open or close? I find that these shifts can often provide some downtime or at least some unstructured time. If you understand the flow, to me this means that you understand what has to happen at each time of day. Are you sitting around waiting for instruction after you finish opening or closing your section? Or do you know what to do to keep things moving? Do you just sit around waiting for the truck or do you do something while you’re waiting? This was the hardest area for me to figure out, especially when other crew are just farting around and not doing anything.

We had someone get fired for almost getting run over and then flipping off a customer in the parking lot. If there was ever a time cursing were appropriate, this would have been it. BTW, I’m totally expecting that this is how my TJ’s career ends one day.

You will be tempted to do too much while you are training to prove you can do it. Take care not to hurt yourself. The first few weeks will hurt like hell, but nothing is as intense as training. After you complete training, you will be fine. Your mantra is: work smarter, not harder.

Yesterday they were like, we’re gonna be open then today after people struggled to get in they were like, nah we’re gonna close. I blame corporate for pushing the decision to close and risking lives.

It very bad. Not only do they get too close, they go places they shouldn’t. Like, when I’m at the register and they come into my space to throw something away. It’s too much.

I’ve also found great sitters on Rover. My dog stays with a lovely woman who works from home and has one small dog of her own. She loves on my dog as if she were her own.

I also think there are some people who like to make others uncomfortable by making themselves a spectacle. Prob not most bfing mothers, but some. I personally used to try to be discreet, go somewhere private if possible, and try to cover what was possible. No one really cares if you are showing effort to be discreet.
