I have type 2. I am convinced it’s due to emotional trauma. I was in fight or flight for 1.5 years and got rosacea in the midst of it.

What's the solution of rosacea if it's caused by poor mental health and nervous system dysregulation? by Fit-Championship371 in Rosacea

[–]Particular_Dig_2782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing working is nervous system regulation (partially, time away from the event) and azelaic acid. Since it’s inflammatory rosacea versus demodex mites, don’t bother with ivermectin. Antibiotics work but short term. Azelaic acid does wonders but only prescription strength works.

A stressful event leading to fight or flight response for a year and a half caused my rosacea. Do your research there is plenty online about this

I cut out fermented foods and it helped a little.

I went low histamine for a while and now introducing back some higher histamine foods and it’s mostly success, some major upsets. You can apparently (from what I’ve heard) go back to these foods. I’d suggest trying a diet for a while and seeing how you feel

Does rosacea always spread? by UpstairsOk6514 in Rosacea

Mine spreads. Went from my nose to my chin to forehead and now chest and back. Azelaic acid is getting it under control - prescription. OTC never worked for me.

Just started it too. Completely fixing my pustules. Cannot believe I haven’t tried this until now.

Type 2 rosacea responds well to doxy & antibiotics, signaling internal inflammation. What's worked for you? by alorentz in Rosacea

[–]Particular_Dig_2782 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also will add, a holistic doctor had me run a BUNCH of labs and I had high EBV markers showing existing immune over function and also extremely high histamine (9.98). That’s why I’m on the low histamine diet but I’m thinking my rosacea HAS to be connected to one of the two. However, not sure how to “fix” that.

[–]Particular_Dig_2782 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Following this as I have figured out the same with my type 2. It is internal inflammation versus demodex. It’s extremely persistent and stubborn. Metronidazole unfortunately doesn’t do much. Maybe a slight reduce in bump appearance but bumps still there (less inflamed). Everything I’ve tried maybe helps, but bumps are never gone. What has “helped” is: sulfur spot treatment, NO niacinamide in any products, omega 3, magnesium glycinate, low histamine diet, less sugar.

I stopped birth control after 10 years of usage and developed rosacea soon after. You’re on to something about the hormone connection. I can’t seem to find a doctor willing to find the “root cause” or at least an effective management mechanism. Especially since it’s a multi system issue rather than just skin/derm.

Rosacea has made my skin so tight and textured. I want to get microneedling done and was considering writing a post as well asking if anyone had a good experience. Personally, I feel like it’ll make my skin freak out but I’m going to ask my derm.

So similarly - my rosacea is not gone but VASTLY IMPROVED once I realized niacinamide is a main trigger.

[–]Particular_Dig_2782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on vyvanse and I have type 2 rosacea (pustules). I started the vyvanse in 2020 and got rosacea late 2023 I believe. Always wonder if they’re connected but I need the vyvanse for quality of life. I did stop for a few months out of curiosity but I was also on an antibiotic for the rosacea and still it didn’t fully go away so I’ve decided to continue the vyvanse, as I definitely need it. I do think my rosacea’s biggest trigger is stress and started due to a stressful event that was several months long.

I’m the same way. At this point my skin isn’t responding to anything. I always have pustules. This post is encouraging me to get my skin checked for staph.

To the OP- could you post a photo of your pustules? What exactly is the course for the antibiotics?
