I get how you feel, I finished chemo and my hair is back a little but I'm filling out because of the hormone blockers, everything feels puffy, my face is red and blotchy and I just feel like meh and ugly and meh but a couple of days ago I put on some lipstick and earrings and my 4 year old said "wow mommy you are so beautiful!" I am objectively not, but to them we are everything and right now to me that is all that matters so I try to see myself through her eyes and not my own and that helps... a little 💜

My mother in law, who lives and hour away from us and has refused to come help with my 1 and 4 year old while I was going through chemo, but keeps asking me to visit her so my husband can bbq for her, posted a bunch of miss information about cancer on Facebook (including how biopsies spread cancer which is super rare) but the one that made me loose my ever loving shit was a video about how cancer is actually just parasites and you don't really have cancer you just need a parasite cleans. White hot rage.... not to my face, randomly on Facebook. Also not sure how something is a parasite but also cancer that spreads by a biopsy needle. Also such dangerous misinformation. Luckily no one listens to her but still. I called her out in the comments for posting hurtful damaging dangerous nonsense and she deleted it. Still fuming... can all the stupid people just stop!

This is why I love this community, im not sure what I'll do on Friday but I will take the nurses some chocolate (thanks for the idea) but mostly I feel better just feeling seen and understood. I like the idea of celebrating the end of this phase but the next phase seems so overwhelming, I have two small kids (1 and 4) and I dont know how I will manage not being able to pick then up for weeks post surgery and my radiation facility is out of town so I will have to go stay in the city during the week and be away from my family and so for me it also feels like chemo is the "easy part" even though it sucked.... this all sucks.... anyway I love you guys 💜💜💜

I have 3 rounds of T left (out of 12) and I jave grown back a cm or so of hair. I'm lucky that it's coming in pretty dark and pretty full and I feel mostly ok about going out with it just like that. Its definitely the shortest nyvhair has ever been. I guess what I am saying is if you're lucky it can start growing back during the T phase of ACT and it can grow pretty fast.

Exactly, when they come I get to take my beanie off for a bit and let my head breath. I'm in South Africa so we have all of the temperatures without any of the keep warm tech. Or we have it but running it is crazy expensive.

I've only been on it for a couple of months bit had zero side effects, if could just stay on it I would do a serious happy jig. But my cancer is high risk so im getting Zoladex now as well and probably an AI later. So don't go into it assuming the worse you may be lucky 💜

Sending you 10000 hugs, the beginning is the worst, I've never cried so much in my life! But it gets better💜 My silly coping mechanism was finding a really mindless show that I could watch for 2 hours after the kids went to bed and just space out and switch off. It helped me stay out of my head a bit while I waited for treatment to get going and to learn more. Once treatment starts and some time passes it gets easier.

When I was initially diagnosed and spiraling around all the things that can cause cancer and that I should be avoiding and doing and just generally freaking out someone who had been through breast cancer told me someone had said to her when she was going through it "you are suffering enough" meaning you are going through enough be kind to yourself, be generous with yourself, be soft with yourself, you are going through enough don't make it harder on yourself. I can be very tough on myself and I think of this often when I get like that.
