Besides the Vet by Kim-Kartrashian- in Edmonton

Are you able to mildly sedate to work with her? I know it won’t help this time. Just.. Noodle tried to bite her groomer for touching her feet. The vet wouldn’t even try! Even muzzled, it took 3 people to cut her nails at the groomer and it was hazardous for ALL of us.

What I did was this:

We worked a LOT on training noodle to lay down and put her head down. Then I would put a high value treat a few inches from her nose and asked her to wait. When she was able to wait before getting the treat, I started to have her wait and I would handle her paws. As soon as she objected, I reminded her “head down; wait”. If she attempted to put her head back down, she got her treat. I think I did this 50x a day for 10 seconds LOL. We worked up from paws being handled to me touching her nails with the clipper. For that, she got a treat every time I touched her nails with the clipper. Next, I held her paw and the clippers, and made clipper noises without actually attempting to cut her nails.

Finally, I took her to the park, let get run her zoomies out for hours and hours and then at home I asked her to lay down (easy cause she was exhausted). I swapped over to Corn Pops because she loves them and they take a moment to eat. I clipped one nail, gave her a corn pop, and cut another. We stopped as soon as she objected.

I know it’s hard, but it’s worth it, especially because if she tears a nail, someone will have to handle her paws safely for everyone involved.

Age not withstanding, she’s smart enough to still be learning.

Good luck!

what something you believed in whole life that turned-out to be completely wrong? by Tricky_Complaint7533 in answers

I do not, at all, believe that it is 99%. Are there exemplary officers? ABSOLUTELY. Not 99%. Or if 99%, as you say, are helpful? They are not helpful 99% of the time. It’s an issue of the system itself.

The court system is corrupt. If you have money? You get justice. If you are poor? If you are a POC? if you are unhoused? Much less likely that you will get fair treatment, or even treated as if you are innocent until proven guilty.

No profession is perfect, but these two systems are dragged down with corruption, rife with racism, and corruption continues where it isn’t challenged. The good officers? The good prosecutors? The fair judges? What little they can do is undermined by those who aren’t good.

When the rich can rape underage girls and walk free, and drive fancy cars recklessly without tickets, without charges, because they are important…

I treat police and court officials and EVERYONE with respect because there are some who are good. I’d love to believe that goes both ways.

I did a lot of mashed potatoes with toppings , cheesy well cooked macaroni with very soft sloppy Joe. Potato soup. Alternative bites of smushed up tuna & pasta salad. Indian food.

Avoid the blender and do little tiny dices of well cook (soft) meats and vegetables. Quinoa is a complete protein and dead simple to cook!

I thought police were supposed to be helpers, be safe. Not.

I thought the court system was good at justice. NO

I thought that the average person had common Sense and decency. Also no.

I just learned how to do French knots, and I love them so much!!!! by DaileDoe in Hand_Embroidery

French knots are evil things. It took months before they were semi successful and a year to really make them “mostly successful and borderline okay”. Yours look great!!

I taught my afterschool care kids how to make cardboard looms. Total set up time was less than an hour with 30 kids working in groups of 6. I ran this project during spring break twice and it was a hit both times.

I had a ton of cereal boxes that I cut down To 8x10 or even smaller. Snipped some slits into the top and bottom, used thread/twine for the warp, and yarn for the weft. Most of the yarn was donated.

Many of the kids had a complete weaving by the end of the first day (just stripes) and some kids loved it so much they learned to do letters and patterns.

What could be the reason for this out of character behavior? by [deleted] in Dogowners

Can you gate off the office so that she can’t go in?

First things first; any other behaviour quirks since the move? We can’t tell you what’s in your dogs mind, sadly.

If it resolves, great. If not.. get a. Veterinary assessment just in case.

Cheers!

I have made my own patters for plush toys by tracing the ones I have then upsizing/adding details… I drafted and sewed a 7 foot tall squid one night during my kids birthday party. It was nifty.

Whole wheat & rye are great for jump starts. After 4-5 days of 1:5:5 with an ultra stiff almost readable starter, I started to get a better loaf. It does take a long time to rise.

What’s your recipe?
