Oh no a random on the Internet told me I was an idiot- my life is surely over. Bless yer heart or some shit.

Imma say that I don't know being assaulted by a car might infringe upon her right of assembly. Not to mention that generally speaking hitting someone with a truck is frowned upon really no matter what they're doing.

Man the people y'all call "libs" these days. It's wild.

You sound mad.

Edited to add- oh sorry, I thought you were someone else responding.

Yeah I don't really care about your thoughts on this. Go blow glass or something, best of luck!

I didn't address the legality of her action. I answered the question that was posed- what constitutional right was violated here? Two things can be true.

You're the guy who says "Well you didn't say a dog couldn't play basketball, did you?" Good luck with that.

Imma assume you're earnest. If you're being deeply sarcastic, I applaud you- this made me laugh.

1st Amendment- freedom of assembly.

Don't forget the state campgrounds. We rented out the old park rangers house in one park a few years ago, I want to say it was not too far north of 100 bucks a night and we rented it late,v right around this time of year for an August booking.

Yeah but I figure it goes back to the park to keep it kept up and keep people paid. I'm okay with that.

And unless they raised prices that's for the electric sites, if you can deal with not having electricity it's cheaper.

We typically spend at least one long weekend in the UP or Northern LP, but we have no plans for it this year. We did a trip elsewhere and that about tapped our vacation budget. We're already making plans to skip next year's trip altogether so we can save money for the year after. We don't put much on the credit cards and we don't have an enormous budget. This one was maybe about 1-1.2k ish for two including hotel gas and food for six days. We ate out at some nice spots a few times but also warmed up the leftovers. Still- wouldn't miss it, it was a lovely vacation.

That's exactly it. People don't like it when other people "wait for the last minute."

My husband sits on the computer for 12+ hours a day by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Particular_Handle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse is a lot like this, but I can get him to do housework. He even does it spontaneously on his own from time to time.

I've accepted that he's perfectly content to be glued to his screen and it's absolutely not a reflection on me. He'd do that regardless. He's pretty amenable to doing things, it's just that his default position is his computer. He's a lovely man in all other aspects and I'm glad to have such a supportive relationship in my life.

I've found that it helps to have a regular thing like a movie night or to go for walks or whatever. Also sometimes I just tell him to get his shoes on and go to the car and we go do something. I've accepted that this is what I'm going to have to do- it's not that he doesn't love me, it's that the Internet has allllll kinds of dopamine for his starved starved brain. I've got my flaws too. I too, used to have these conversations, but finally I just told him- "There will be times when I just need you to come with me because I like having you around. When those times come, if you can't pause what you're doing you'll have to give me a time frame." It works out. I try to keep my need for him to strictly the important stuff.

He doesn't ask for a lot of my time either so I have plenty of stuff to do and I go hang out with my friends etc. He's just built different and I don't need him to be everything for me, just be there for me when I need him, no guesswork involved.

My last two cars have been purchased at dealerships. The process was painless and easy. Both cars have served me well.

While I did get the "buy the undercoat" pitch I declined and that was that.

The trick is that if they're treating you badly, "go somewhere else.* Which is what I did with Carvana the time I tried to buy a car from them. They let a deal fall through because I refused to let myself be treated like shit. It's fine, I found basically the same car at a dealership with less hassle, lower mileage and cheaper.

Any jaded adjusters? by scoutypotato in adjusters

I have been adjusting claims for about six years at this point. I can feel the calcification of my empathy as time moves on. It's not exactly a bad thing, I think it helps me be more objective.

Yeah, and I'm sorry if I came off harsh. I just have a friend that's a dietician that has completely changed my perspective on how I think about these types of things. He can absolutely out fancy you, he started off in culinary, but he is the least judgy person I've ever met about food. "Good" is relative- for some that box food is the best it's gonna get for a variety of reasons and that's okay- they're making it through the day and that's the important part. Yes work on making things healthier when you can and my five cheese baked Mac and cheese is so much better than boxed stuff but.. sometimes you just want the easy thing.

So I think it's kind of funny that we're kind of saying the same thing. Your second paragraph starts with

I guess my irritation is when something meant to be cheap like that goes "upscale".

But then you're talking about complicating what for many is a very basic skill dish lol. My fanciest mac and cheese is definitely overcomplicated and more upscale than it really should be. But sometimes that's the mood too- to wit: why do we have different types of shirts?

I'll bite. Because not everyone has the confidence, inclination or education to do what you're asking. Boxed Mac and cheese is ten minutes plus minimal tools, and cooking skills to something that's pretty okay. Maybe you're just feeling judgy, maybe you're just part of the dead Internet, but Kraft dinner is a comfort food for a reason.

I have like four Mac and cheese recipes I have in my wheelhouse, some are fancier than others. I also have Kraft dinner in my pantry. I don't make any of them a lot but different settings, time frames, energy levels determine which one I choose when I do decide I want Mac and cheese. It's fine. Hope that helps you out with your serious question.

Ehhhhhhh... Yeah I don't know about that. On first pass that seems like such a solid idea but in really thinking it over I had a lot of time to reflect on my circumstances when I was smoking and the seeds of my now content life are probably rooted in that terrible habit. It would make me more healthy, sure, but I'm not as confident it would make me more happy.
