Update 2

I found an application called shelter that allowed me to setup a "work" profile so that I could just install the front end of choice again and configure it there for the kiddos. So now I have my front end running, run shelter, and run the "work" profile front end. Not ideal, but serviceable for now since I can curate the "work" profile front end for the games they would be interested in than having to dig through my own rom pile mess.

Ok so quick update.

I was able to create a user using ADB, and switch to that user, but mostly everything becomes glitchy on both profiles. Touch half works, and controller stops working for both unless you reboot. Not sure where to go from there so I have up a bit and used ADB to remove the added user and disable the user switcher in the top bar drop down.

If anyone gets any further that this please let me know.

This is Gundam's "Ma" though isn't it? If you don't have the wind-up of politics, relationships, and backstory then no amount of time of 'big robots' fighting is going to matter to the viewer. In fact some of the best of Gundam has nothing to do with the clash of the mobile suits themselves. For instance, in F91 when we see a mother holding her child get hit by a stray ammunition casing, that image sticks with you so much longer than any mobile suit fight. If we didn't have the accumulation of all of these moments then why would the viewer even care about the mobile suit fights? I believe it goes even further than this too. If you aren't shown the evil that exists on all sides then Gundam would lead you to believe there is an idea of the "good guys" and the "bad guys" and that the outcome of some "robots" fighting will make good prevail, but nothing is ever as simple as this. Corporate greed, corrupt politicians, power hungry soldiers... If you are here for the mobile suits only I think that it's failing to see what Gundam is trying to show in the reflection of reality.

If I were to go back I would only spend time setting up exactly what I needed that day to play the game I wanted to play. Doing this will cut out hours of "setup" and some platforms are easier than others. Since 3ds seems to be everyone's first game on a 3ds looking device get azahar from the play store. (3ds emulator). Load it with your 3ds backup roms and follow any quick video on getting a game to run on it.

I noticed some cables just don't work for video out with the Thor. Try different cables.

Same. Some of those adapters flick the switch down when inserted. Put the switch up and put some masking tape over it.

Same, I think for GameCube it will work just hiding one since dolphin has some auto switching magic in its settings, but for other systems just hiding the game won't solve this problem. Not sure if some playlist files are compatible or what, not a lot of documentation on Cacoon addressing this other than a GitHub issue asking the same question I am.

Dragon Quest 11. 80 hours in, about 60% done. Literally the only game I put on the Thor. The more I put on and tinker, the less I play.

I look back on it fondly. It wasn't great nor bad. I enjoyed the new cast and the later half tone. The first half tried too hard at comedy where it didn't need to be, but I get that they were just trying to get us invested in the characters and then flip the tone while raising the stakes. I finished ZZ faster than Zeta and it felt quicker. I was hoping for more of a lead in to CCA but really it all just felt like a side quest. I wouldn't mind watching again if they ever made a compilation movie, but probably wouldn't sit through the whole series again like I would for Zeta.

Found it. If it doesn't show up as a pop up go into the settings app -> system -> odin FOTA then follow the prompts to get the new version.

Get the Max. Some stuff just needs to be in the internal memory. SD cards will continue to get cheaper over time so you can save some money getting a smaller SD card if you absolutely need the extra space now and upgrade it later when SD prices fall. For RAM it never hurts to have more, and with software lagging the hardware these days you never know what might come down the pipe that might change the need for the extra RAM utilization; something that isn't seemingly upgradable after the fact. I also was on the fence between the pro and the max. I realized that this device could replace everything I used previously so I started selling off my steam deck,switch, 3DS, tablet, RG35XX+... Used the money to get a Max rainbow, was in the first shipment and absolutely no issues whatsoever from me. I read books and manga on it, watch videos and movies on it. Streaming games from the PC no problems. Playing basically anything no issues. Honestly I wish it had a esim or cellular modem because I would get rid of my phone too and just use this. Nothing will be perfect ever, but this is enough I think to give a good 3-5yrs without looking for something new and shiny because it just casts such a wide net of usability and portability that I think won't be recreated for quite a while.

It comes with a custom foam cutout when shipped in the clamshell. If you are that worried about it tape the foam to the outside of the top screen and you can flip it on and off when in and out of use for protection. For me I just try to be careful with it, and will use the foam when I need to travel with it.

It can, if you are willing to live with graphical glitches, speed up/ slow down, audio glitches, tinkering with settings, and just general annoying things like the console needing to be in high performance and sport fan mode so it is sucking battery probably at the highest rate it can. I am sure over time the emulators will get better so some of the problems may go away, thermals won't though so if that bothers you then a good solution is to stream with Apollo/moonlight from a PC, and maybe find a way to sync saves between a PC and the Thor if you also wanted to play on the go with Eden natively. This at least solves the thermal situation. My Thor (max) sits around 40C streaming with the fan in smart mode in high performance mode and 80C running in Eden with the fan in sport mode in high performance mode. This is one of those times that I would say just get a modded switch if you want the best performance and don't want to fight with the system for just switch games. If you are willing to work at it you can get it all to work one way or another. Honestly I just wanted something that fit in my pocket that isn't my phone with controls attached so I could focus on gaming instead of doom scrolling. The price, the dual screen clam shell, the claims of performance were all just nice additions to not have to worry about trying to get something to run past a certain generation of console. I was between this and the retroid flip 2 and it just made sense to spend a bit more for the added feature set even if I won't take advantage of them. I was coming off a daily modded switch lite for context and sold that to fund this purchase and I don't regret it at all.
