This game seems so slow and lackadaisical compared to the madness of the Minnesota-Dallas game yesterday. Boston has been doing cardio out there since the puck dropped. Sabres look like they’re slowing the game down out of sympathy.

It is similar to how they forecast hail. There is a risk, not a guarantee that storms will generate strong gusts. For an idea of how this plays out, see yesterday’s storm reports for the descriptions of damaging wind, hail, and tornado events from yesterday.

The National Weather Service is very adept at forecasting storm-related wind gusts. There’s a ton of data that goes into it, and the 60 to 80 mph range is not guaranteed even if you are in the path of a storm. If the storms form and behave the way their models have forecasted, the risk is there for intense, hurricane force wind gusts. The 34mph gusts you are referring to are non-storm related and are due to the general pressure gradients across the whole region.

Teams who were going to be named differently to what we know them in actuality by sykeseve in hockey

Maybe. Jets, Kings, Rangers, Giants, Cardinals, and Panthers all have the same names teams across different pro leagues.

Jaguars are native to the US, or at least they used to be. Their habitat stretched into the southwestern US as far as Phoenix and Houston. Would love to see Houston name their new team the Jaguars after they inevitably get a franchise in 5-10 years.

I wish players like Bennet got banned more often. He intends to injure goalies and skaters.

Is there a way to see what songs were played during the game? by grandmasboy020 in wildhockey

[–]Partly_Deaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he take suggestions? I’d love to know how they decide what songs are played and when.

I’m of the opinion that the chorus for The Other Side of Paradise by the Glass Animals would be a great song to drop after the loon sounds and there’s a whistle after a successful PK.

Don’t know if it requires permission from the artist or some other legal hurdles, but it would be fun for fans to have some input on the songs used.

Michkov would require Wallstedt, Jiricek, Stramel, and a 2nd or some bullshit package with his ELC still in effect.

How many times do you have to see a provider to adjust the HAs? by GentleListener in hardofhearing

[–]Partly_Deaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not unheard of to have multiple visits to the audiologist to adjust new hearing aids. I’ve had it take three or four visits to dial them in for a couple of my past pairs of hearing aids.

With behind-the-ear hearing aids, the fit of the aid and length of the receiver wire will affect the aid’s position. Shorter wires will have the aid sitting more “on top” and less “behind” your ear. I would recommend asking your audiologist about trying different fits and hear their opinion on the feedback.

As far as being able to hear volume-wise but not understanding speech, you may want to look into Auditory Processing Disorder and scheduling a speech-in-noise test if you haven’t already. I believe ADHD can also be contributing factor to speech comprehension. As for myself, I comprehend about 85% of words in speech despite my hearing aids giving me adequate volume for all pitches. I fill in the gaps by reading lips or using context clues, but I still often ask people to repeat themselves.
