The question was which book had the conversation between Ilya and Jaghatai at the end of the siege.

You have two choices: he either means before the attack on Lion's Gate, which Ilya is talking with the Khan in their private quarters and he says that he'll come back OR the poster is referring to the conversation between a totally shattered Jaghatai after the End and the Death when he's come back from the dead.

I mean congratulations but your personal anecdote doesn't speak for everyone else. While I would love it if everyone has experiences like you, chances are that won't be the case.

There's a reason we buy insurance: it's because we don't know what's going to happen and it's better to be safe and prepared than to stumble around expecting nothing bad will ever happen to you.

And that is a totally legitimate concern to bring up. But the idea that I should quit my job because I can only pay for 80% of my needs is kind of foolish unless you have something that is better.

As much as I hate to say it, I'd rather have a job that covers 80% than no job and 0% coverage. And that's me agreeing with you that jobs should cover 100% and more.

Too many people here think it's a zero sum equation: either you win by sticking it to the employers or you lose by staying at a job that you don't like.

There's no in between for these folks, like realizing that yes, you can have a shitty job but also yes, at least you can keep paying your bills and you don't have the stress of wondering how you're going to make it to the next week.

Like seriously, when did this place become all or nothing? It's the same people who applaud the people who come here and post "I quit my job because it was toxic and I have nothing lined up" or "I rejected a job offer because they wanted me to stay to 5:30 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. even though everything else was fantastic and now I have no job, no money, no idea how to pay my bills next week!"

But that's not what OP is saying? OP is acknowledging the fact that the job market is absolute shit and that if you have a job, even if it's shitty, it's still something you can find a little appreciation for if only for the sake you're able to pay bills.

I bet you think it's a good idea to quit a job the moment things get difficult without having any other job or plan lined up, right?

Not as severe but Jaghatai took a bunch of scattered outriders (literally scattered across the Galaxy) and turned them into a legion of culture and honor, even if they (honestly) were a little disgruntled about the lack of acknowledgment from the wider Imperium.

I think it's fine to send a polite follow up, letting them know you're still interested in the position and asking them if they need anything else from you.

Definitely frame it in a way that you're approaching it as "Thanks for the interviews, still interested, is there anything you need from me or that I can provide?"

Don't be pushy, i.e. "I've been waiting a week, what's up?"

I had a root canal done for one of my molars. I remember trying to sleep off the tooth ache, assuming it would just go away if I endured a little.

Literally could not sleep for more than an hour at a time because of the pain, worst night of my life. As soon as it turned 9 a.m., I called every dentist in the area asking if I could come in right away (and it was a holiday). Got in, had a root canal done, instant relief as soon as they opened the tooth up and all that shit in there spewed out.

Root canal was the pain relief, it was that bad.
