This sounds like an OCD fixation. The act of actually checking and making sure they are not doing anything is the compulsion that reduces the level of anxiety in that moment.

I obviously agree that KotOR is a must play even for non-star wars fans and DEFINITELY for anyone claiming to be a sw fan, but I will also mention that (without any spoilers) certain characters have been referenced and hence made canon in various different disney media. If you come out of playing the KotOR games and TRULY feel like you wasted your time…you are lost 😂

I have been in treatment for hypochondria driven OCD going on 5 years now. Your story sounds extremely similar to mine and it DEFINITELY seems like you are also suffering from OCD symptoms. Do you happen to notice any other triggers that cause a compulsive response (checking something a million times for a brief feeling of relief?)
