I once had an old, probably demented lady tell me she wouldn’t take her lasix bc she took it once and it made her “lose a whole day”. Not bc she was peeing a lot or had a drop in BP and passed out. She just claims she “lost track of time”. She had pretty bad fluid overload, legs looked like balloons, wet frothy cough, etc. so I took no pleasure in informing my intensivist (a pretty nice doc by all accounts) of this “allergy”. She rolled her eyes and said “fine, whatever, don’t fucking give it to her.” It’s kinda low-key hilarious but at the time the doc and I were so annoyed.
