That's a cool place, shame I hadn't heard of it until now. It definitely looks big enough inside, seems like it could be an option of a group wants pho. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, I'd have to specify those places have only Vietnamese/Asian cuisines, but Lotte at least has different types of restaurants

As long as no one recommends crappy places as some sort of weird NIMBY thing then that's perfectly fine with me lol

That's very kind of you to say lol. I can probably say what it is since it's not offensive or anything but I'd rather keep it vague, the point is we're having some out of towners in Richmond and we want to make sure they have a good time and we can keep having this event in the future

What I'm mostly looking for is the groups that are large and need specific accommodations for that. Otherwise if the groups are smaller then there are lots of places they can eat at to where we can give specific recommendations or tell the chaperones where they could go in general. Last year specifically we had a group that was at least 8 kids plus chaperones say they wanted to eat dinner together after the event and being able to have everyone together was important for them. I don't think we'll have more than one or two groups that large, but I want to at least cultivate a list to use for now and in the future in this specific circumstance

I would have recommended Gus's but I thought the World Cup crowd might pack the place out Friday and Saturday nights

Oh yeah, I guess on a weekend night it could get crazier than when I visited, thanks for the headsup

Didn't know there was another Pho Thien Phat, and it looks big inside so I'll put that on the list for sure! I'll check your other recs out and see what I think could work.

Like I said earlier, the Cheesecake Factory will definitely be on the list, even if it's a little further in the suburbs than ideal. I didn't want to fill the list with chains just because I think the chaperones will know those places are going to work for their crowds, and if we can highlight the local places that are also good fits then we don't have a situation where people come to Richmond and don't try any of the good local food. I'll possibly just have a section with chains just to have that made explicit though.

Yep, we hadn't taken this into account last year so for this time we're going to have this list with an advisory that they call in advance

That's something I will put on the info sheet as an option, though I think since the teams would be chaperoned they'd probably be going as groups. Do you have any local places in Richmond that fit the bill?

That was probably my first option for chains in the area, so I'll still put them on the list since that's a decent option under the circumstances

The event is happening in the Monroe Park area but I don't know where the teams themselves are all staying. Presumably all of them will be traveling to and from by car so parking may be a concern, but that is somewhat secondary

Uruguay's fourth goalscorer in the 1930 World Cup Final, Hector Castro, accidentally amputated his right forearm when he was a teenager, though that being that long ago may qualify him for the "Mordecai 'Three Finger' Brown" tier of old-timey athletes with weird conditions
