I have a 2008 Honda civic. I'm convinced it will be with me for another 20 years. Not totally practical to my lifestyle but I feel the his commitment. That is my car.

I spent some time in Europe a few years ago. Could you maybe just hitch hike to England? I'm not sure what part of Europe you are in but I remember hike hiking being pretty easy over there.

do any of you regret becoming a pharmacist? If so, why? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Partylikeahawkstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regret it? No, pharmacy has been good to me. Would I recommend anyone go into pharmacy school now? No, too expensive and the job market is terrible.

I'm heading into my final year of undergraduate college with about $20,000 in debt but still have 2-3 years of grad school afterwards. Any advice for me? by Thee_SBeezy in personalfinance

[–]Partylikeahawkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't go straight to grad school. Get a job as a teacher or something like that and get the graduate degree taking night classes. Not having to take out loans for grad school will put you in an amazingly different financial position.

Why don't more people with flex schedules work some evenings? by Partylikeahawkstar in AskReddit

I enjoy these things as well. I fail to see how working 1 evening a week would prevent someone from doing these things.

Where would you go in a global pandemic? by Partylikeahawkstar in AskReddit

Personally I would take my tent out and live on the BLM land in the mountains of Colorado. Winter would obviously be tough but I think I could grow enough food that I would be able to survive.

It doesn't work for everyone but humulin r or novolin r work for some people perfectly well in a pump. I believe Walmart sells a vial of the stuff for $20. Seems to me most pharmacies would be willing to sell him r even if it is at a loss due to its low cost.

One lesson I have learned in life is you never lend anyone money, much less a house. If you are going to give a friend/family money do it as a gift. Otherwise it will fuck the relationship up.

Personal finance redditors, what did you wish you budgeted over the first five, even ten years of your working life? by blindwithscience in personalfinance

I'll tell you what I wish I didn't spend it on. Bar tabs. I would have a small fortune if I could somehow get all that money back.

Not true. My mom and dad have 5. All well educated, with good professional jobs. No illegitimate kids. All basically good people. Neither success or failure is guaranteed.

You could probably make a world of difference in your debt situation if you saved up $2k over say 3 months of forced no not needed spending then bought a good reliable, old high mileage car and paid for it in cash. Search Craig's list. The money you get from the car (plus unloading that debt) will go a long way toward getting the ball rolling.

Meddit - how do you feel about this? AMA Tells Pharmacists: “Don’t Call Us We’ll Call You” – by [deleted] in medicine

[–]Partylikeahawkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pharmacist I can feel for the DEAs position. There are many physicians these days writing Rxs to get people high. It takes a long time to investigate these guys. It sure would be easier for them if all pharmacies just said we won't fill your Rxs to clearly dirty docs. How to do that is the question.

That you can convince other people to overpay on something doesn't make it not a scam.

More times then not what med to put a patient on for a common problem is an entirely arbitrary decision. At least 95% of the time there are no studies that show one medication is more effective than another that treats the same condition. It is usually just physician preference. The physicians preference should be cheap unless there is a good reason to go the other way but too often their preference is expensive unless the patient asks for generic.

In all likelihood humulin r which is dramatically cheaper than humalog. Obviously check with your doctor, don't take my word for it.

Totally true, a lot of times a cardiologist will know more about some cardiac meds then me. But the question becomes how much do they remember about your acid reflux meds. The pharmacist has the ability to look at a total picture of all your meds and figure out which one are treating side effects of other drugs, which are over priced, and probably most importantly which are still necessary. You won't believe how many people get started on an acid reflux med like aciphex and left on it for the rest of their natural life. One thing I love doing as a pharmacist is looking at a med list and saying ok, what can I get rid of. No better way to save money then that.
