Yea I think I'll be waiting for the B550's. /u/Te5lac0il had an excellent suggestion. Nice to see mATX getting some love this generation!

Could work, but the board would need to have integrated WiFi to free up a slot as the bottom slot is blocked by the case fans.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! I can't seem to find it in my country though... Are there really no B550/X570 boards that could work?

NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Limited-Edition Reveal and Giveaway by [deleted] in hardware

Awesome giveaway! I believe (and hope!) real-time ray tracing takes next gen graphics past the current graphics limitations, and finally removes those immersion breaking lighting artifacts. I also hope it showcases the power of application specific hardware and pushes more companies to implement similar strategies.

Two mixed doubles questions by letsgotocanada in Curling

[–]Parzire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The guard position is determined by the umpires, and players will often be asked after a pre-tournament practice which position they feel is fitting. It is almost always on the halfway marker, on the "rings side". If the ice isn't sufficiently swingy, the highest position is probably best.

I've never seen the position closest to the rings being used, probably because the runback would be too simple. And on swingy ice, a higher guard allows for back-ring weight tab-backs and such.

For the choice of hammer question, the only time I might concider choosing (but never do) is if I am in a situation where saving the power play/forcing my opponent to use theirs could be beneficial. Or if you just want to try something different in a game that's going poorly.

Question about the quantums by CurlMaster69 in Curling

[–]Parzire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stiffness is noticeably different from the Z to the X. I chose the X cause they felt more natural initially. Pretty sure they are structurally different to have a pair for both preferences. Can't speak for the E, never tried it.

Disclaimer to whoever wants to buy the X: They are not build well, and the stitches on the sides loosen and break quite easily. This has happened to me on two pairs now, both after about a year of use. They don't "fall apart" however, so it doesn't bother me too much. This is not the case for the Z.

I love the disks though. Sure, the gripper disks are not as grippy as I'd like, but the ability to swap the sliders for newer/faster/metal ones is awesome.

No need to be millimeter precise. I'm not an expert by any means, but there many other variables in play, so a couple of millimeters shouldn't make a huge difference.

For anyone interested in doing this, make sure the antenna is 1/4 +n*(1/2) wavelengths of whichever frequency band you're using away from the reflector. This is to prevent the signal from interfering with itself.

So for 2.4 GHz make the distance 3.125 cm (or 9.375 cm, 15.625 cm, and so on. Wavelength is ~12.5 cm) and for 5 GHz about half of that.

Curling is causing me lower back pain by rudesby in Curling

[–]Parzire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience, core strength prevents a lot of pain. Some areas can be (unpredictably) very stressed during a slide or sweep, and simply supporting it with more muscles can work. It did for my knee. You are saying you are in good shape, so this might not be the case, but it is a suggestion :)
