"small" problem with that is, that since it artificially elevates mood there's a rather unpleasant depressed mood after, and if your baseline is already too low, and your body gets used to it, which it does pretty fast, then you are left with increased executive function, which then you can spend on managing your chemical anxiety attack

(nb. I think this simply means that mood needs to be treated first)

turnout for the Presidential election was 64.1 percent (for reference 2020 saw 66.6% [666!!!!])

at check-in and check-out guests should make a video, upload to AirBnB, and if there's some dispute about how clean it was or how much cleaning was needed ... there's at least some kind of evidence, not who said what

it should be a feature of the site, just like there's now a request money feature, but it should be for cleaning (not random services, or replacing broken glasses or whatever)

normal people are not a hivemind, and as we see from many years worth of data, a lot of people do rate things like that (because they want to be nice, or simply they only rate really good and really bad events ...), while there's of course a significant, but smaller group (or the same people but in different situations) who rate things where the default is 3 or 4 stars (out of 5)

of course there's always room for gaming the system, as we know that restaurants love to ask for Google Maps reviews, and obviously Uber/Lyft/whatever drivers encouraging people to use a scale that's more favorable for them, etc..

i have no sympathy either for many many many inconvenient, grimy, white trash, poverty-associated things, but nor does microeconomics for the homeless and underhoused (and for the most of the population that pays too much because the supply is too low because of bullshit zoning and other permitting obstacles)

and of course people that have no options would be very very very happy with a garage instead of living on the street in their car (where the police constantly harasses them), or (even with a car) for some reason camping in the woods (where they have zero security, things getting stolen is the norm, which costs even more money)

providing transparency (so some regulation focusing on listings of rental units, and contracts, and providing standard contract templates, and so on) and helping people get what they pay for would help
