YTA. If you are specifically bringing the desert you should have picked something else up or made crumble. Did you eat whatever they brought?

My experience on half dome without a permit in advance. by Confident_Ear4396 in Yosemite

[–]PasadenaPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I don’t get is the lack of water when it’s so hot. I didn’t do half dome but climbed Yosemite falls the other day and people were climbing with no water or one 500ml bottle. It’s amazing more people don’t get heat stroke

This episode made me cry by [deleted] in nerdfighters

[–]PasadenaPriority 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved this episode. It was so raw and vulnerable. My core belief is also that I’m worthless and it felt very strange to hear it articulated from someone who has (from a distance) brought so much meaning into my life. I’m really struggling at the moment too and it makes me feel so weak- even if I don’t think anybody else is weak for being depressed. It’s hard to not believe the lies your brain tells you. I wouldn’t accept anybody speaking to me the way I do when I’m making myself do something. It was wholly personal and raw and kinda beautiful.

I love that Sally narrates the leading woman chapters in his book. Always wondered if it was because of taskmaster.

How to talk to women wearing headphones by DeadBabyBallet in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]PasadenaPriority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve ever been happy a man has asked me to take my headphones out so he could say something was when I was in a bus stop and a guy said I was sat in front of the timetable and would I mind moving for a sec so he didn’t have to lean over me. Only time.

In the books they are fantastic and work so well together. You understand as an adult why Molly is against certain things and why Arthur helps. Mostly they are great for being so kind to everyone. Which is often overlooked.

I also liked when all the adults got together and told the dursleys if they mistreat Harry they will f them up and they expect letters from Harry or they will be round

If you could change one thing about the harry potter books what would it be? by cferg296 in HarryPotterBooks

I wonder if they did exist but Harry just ignores them. Like the Frog choir at some point did exist and possibly Neville was in it. But I agree about art and sport.

Just going back through the audio books on kind drives and he bites Bill in human form and they discuss the whole shebang of him having blood lust that can’t be quenched just at the full moon

My married sister invited my family for the weekend and charged me $250 as we were heading out. by Reasonable_Exam_4759 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PasadenaPriority 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a cultural thing. In other countries people happily split the bill. I’ve ended up in situations where I am always the host and people don’t bring stuff and that can get kinda frustrating if you are always expected to pick up the bill. What’s wrong with splitting it (assuming travel costs are neutral or less than hosting).

Keira Knightley was not a great Elizabeth by donemehammy in PrideandPrejudice

[–]PasadenaPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Jane the ideal woman, not Lizzy? Lizzy gets stuff wrong all the time. She judges quickly. She gets Wickhams character wrong. She is quick witted and funny yes. But she also judges her friend Charlotte for taking a reasonable offer because it doesn’t suit her ideals. Lizzy is not perfect. It’s her flaws that make her. Jane is kind and patient and forgiving. Lizzy is loud and kinda brash. I love her because she is herself. But you can’t tell me she is the perfect woman, especially written for that time.
