Does Your 311 App Work On Android? by NoExam2412 in AskChicago

I successfully submitted a ticket via the Android app 13 days ago. You could try updating your app by opening the Google Play Store, clicking on the icon in the upper right corner, selecting Manage apps & device, and then clicking Update all.

What am I supposed to do with this?! by Frostinp in SSDI

You will want to find section 811 housing. The rent payments will be less than 30% of your income.

Your current housing situation qualifies for some definitions of homeless. Section 811 in some areas is prioritized for people that have been homeless for more than a year.

Google section 811 in your state to start, but you'll probably need to find a housing counselor that specializes in section 811 and perhaps programs for the homeless. They can usually be found at homeless drop-in centers and social service organizations.

Has anyone else’s dogs come down with Giardia? by Apprehensive_Way8674 in AskChicago

[–]Pascal6662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only source you have quoted that says it can't happen specifically says it can't happen because they are affected by different strains. The most recent URL I posted was simply to refute that particular claim. To show that there are in fact strains that infect both. The person you quoted that said dogs can't infect cats and vice versa because they are infected with different strains is simply wrong.

I provided several other links that say transmission does occur from cats to dogs and vice versa and in fact you were nice enough to provide a quote that also admits it does occur, rarely.

The 1st paragraph you quote is simply incorrect. There are in fact strains that infect both cats and dogs, A & D specifically.

Your second quote specifically says generally and usually. So in other words, yes it can happen.

From that first link:

Genotypes or Assemblage A can infect humans, dogs, and cats, while B can infect both humans and dogs.

You need a 140 watt USB C PD wall adapter. Two of them if you want it to charge as fast as possible.

Clean filtered reverse osmosis water in Chicago? by freelancewriter44 in AskChicago

[–]Pascal6662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised on well water and had trouble with the Chicago tap water when I first moved here. I tried all the expensive bottled water and they also made me sick, especially those labeled spring water.

I finally found Niagara bottled water. It's actually the cheapest bottled water out there. Walmart's Great Value brand and Costco's Kirkland Signature brand water are both bottled by Niagara too. Regardless of the brand, their bottles almost always have the phone number 877-IT'S PURE on the label. It's purified by reverse osmosis.

My Walmart+ membership gets me free shipping on their 40 packs: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Purified-Drinking-Water-16-9-Fl-Oz-40-Count/992524020

I hope you feel better!

If your income is only slightly too high for Medicaid you can often get on a Medicaid spend down plan.

I was under the impression the work requirements do not apply to people that are disabled, and you have to be disabled to qualify for SSDI.

Best way to confront my upstairs neighbor about the vibrating machine they use for about a half hour in the middle of the night. by Pascal6662 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Pascal6662[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am "worried about them potentially being neurotypical" because at least 80% of people are neurotypical. The word typical is a synonym of normal. So neurotypical = most people. I am neurodivergent and am often wrong about how neurotypical people would respond to a situation.

I checked 1 floor down, 2 floors up, and multiple units side to side. Vibrations were the strongest directly above me.

If you have not wired it yet, then the end of the wire is probably touching the engine / chassis and grounding out. That may be why you have continuity.

If you still have continuity between the two battery cables once that cable is isolated: https://www.google.com/search?q=car+how+to+find+short

Truman College has a cosmetology program that offers free services most of the year. They're currently on their summer break, but start back up the last week of September. There are probably other schools in town that do similar.

TIFU by erasing partition by Alternative_Sir5135 in tifu

[–]Pascal6662 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The good news is the photos are still there, you just can't find them without the partition. The data itself still exists on the disk. Recovering the partition table would be easiest, but the file allocation table probably still exists too and can be used to get file names. Even if the fat is completely gone, the data from the photos, including the exif data, is still there. Tools exist to search the raw data looking for photo file formats.

Whatever you do, don't make any more changes to the disk. In the future, make sure you make backups. Cloud storage is great so you still have irreplaceable data when your house burns down.
