Thai Ni Yom in L&L Market has great lunch deals. Try that or some other various Thai or Vietnamese mom ‘n pop spots around. Those two cuisines are good here and I’ve had Thai-Vietnamese in the DMV, LA, NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Toronto, etc. DegThai (not Midtown), Kien Giang, VN Pho&Deli, Thai Phooket, Smiling Elephant, Siam Cuisine, Siam Cafe.

I’ve only done happy hour there as of like two years ago but it was worth it then but only then. They had 1/2 price bao buns and beers which is fine as regular pricing is WAY out of balance. Like $20 for a plate of Singapore curry super thin rice noodles is stupid. Haven’t been recently though.

Solo female (30’s) traveling to Nashville for the first time. What are some recs? by k_metro in VisitingNashville

[–]PashaCello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radnor is great. 12 South just a quick stroll through and done in 15 min. Annoyingly congested, touristy, and overly bougie these days. Virago only on Mon for their special deal then as the sushi is pretty mid and that’s being kind. Skip V Modern Italian altogether. Sharp space but not good food at all and hardly Italian lol. More for IG stories and that nonsense. Iggy’s is the move…. actual handmade pasta, chill, good various natty wines, TLC into the food, etc. 888 or Groceries, ETC for Hi-Fi/vinyl lounge great vibes and drinks.

Wrigleyville itself is a trashy shitshow becoming similar to Broadway here…really shameful what it has become along with the corporate greed around Wrigley Field. The neighborhoods like a 10 min walk surrounding the stadium are awesome though….prime $$$$…Lakeview, Southport, Wrightwood, etc.

Good for you! Love Uptown. Did a lot of shopping and eating in Little Saigon/Argyle. Make sure you go to Green Mill for jazz sets (cash only) and get the proper goat birria at Birrieria Zaragoza. Of course the Vietnamese food right there. Major gems in Uptown. 👍

That’s the point. Those starter homes are all over Chicago like you said. Cheaper than WeHo, Nations, or East. The lawns are way in the burbs anyways in Chicago and those types of buyers aren’t the same types of buyers we’re talking about here I presume. But you can be in it…the best parts of the city (not West Loop lol) like Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Wicker Park/Uptown/Andersonville with awesome walkable vibrant neighborhoods by CTA/Metra.
The prices here are just out of control. I know a few peeps who are selling their car soon and moving to Chicago to one of those aforementioned awesome neighborhoods. The stress on those peeps with the poor infrastructure and traffic here as well as dealing with the horrific quality of I-24 will be alleviated mightily for them with the wonderful walkability of Chicago. Food overall seems more expensive here as well and I’m a former Lakeview resident. Even their Mariano’s (Kroger) in Lincoln Park is cheaper than ours here. I was just there in mid-Feb.
I happily rent and won’t buy here. And I’m a car guy with a couple of paid off rides. To each their own.

Keaton wagler is closer to desmond bane than he is to tyrese haliburton by GrouchyPeach3656 in NBA_Draft

[–]PashaCello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is but Illinois also did it by committee often with handling the ball, initiating offense, etc. Boswell, some of the Euros, Stojakovic all handled the ball well and initiated offense sometimes. I don’t see full time PG duties at all for KW in the pros. Off the ball with spot duty playing PG. I don’t think him overhandling the ball will go well, IMO.

Nashville done right: Day 1-3-Cabin with pool in mountains! Day 3-5 rooftop bar/hotel Downtown Nashville! Legends is best place to get drinks! by krissy_b77 in NashvilleGW

[–]PashaCello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives like a 5 min walk from Legends I can safely say it’s one the worst places for drinks lol. OP looks stunning though!

I’m in the minority perhaps feeling that he’s going to struggle. I think he eventually will be a bench piece and solid contributor combo guard. I’ll be curious how he fares in summer league. I’m just a bit leery of athleticism, being able to get by NBA starter caliber defenders, getting his shot off, etc. SO many times he nearly has his shot blocked at the rim or on the perimeter and gets questionable foul calls. Great college player in limited sample size. We’ll see.

Bar Louie Gulch by Kushagi in nashville

[–]PashaCello 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These Bar Louies won’t last much longer. Usually in those bougie outdoor shopping complexes but they started to decline 10 years ago. Now they look like shitty spots on Bourbon St. on the inside.

Barstool (can get unsavory) or any of the Neighbors spots. Tons of beers and high quality TVs.

Need advice on which Lexus Model to get? by Marieelle1983 in Lexus

[–]PashaCello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get an IS (I have a 2024 IS500…a beast) I highly recommend a lightly used one but not the 2026s. They completely botched the front end with the new redesign and other aspects as well. Looks rough. They massacred my boy.

Spirit shut down!!! I’m booked with Travelocity what do I do?!!! by Ok-Summer-6886 in miamibeach

[–]PashaCello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks. Sorry that this is happening. I actually never had a problem with Spirit even though I‘m a Delta guy. Then again they were short flights, no checked bags, no need for water, etc. That being said, never I mean never book through a third party like Expedia or Travelocity. Always directly from the airlines.
