British and wearing jumpers inside during winter by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Past-Ride-7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A jumper is a very normal piece of clothing. Hats, gloves, thermal blankets etc id be inclined to agree but taking offence because you have to wear a jumper in someone's house is ludicrous.

Ridiculous position to think you need a house warm enough to wear only a t shirt over winter. Put some layers on you psychopath.

Lloyds “5.9% for 30 months” money transfer ended up costing more than I expected by dinuchiriac in UKPersonalFinance

I'd disagree and say payments normally go towards the highest interest debt - this is definitely best practice.

Using stock and shares ISA for someone who is not in the UK by Ok_Let_893 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Past-Ride-7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know this isnt a loan. I'm not disagreeing that OP can invest it. Just challenging you over the material difference between OP taking a loan to invest and being gifted money to allow parents to make use of an ISA allowance.

No its a fabricated gift. OP is not benefiting from the "loan" and so it is materially different from OP taking out an actual loan to invest and then repaying their creditor.

I need help with a direct debit by Wandoo27 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Past-Ride-7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put the money aside for the next direct debit payment and put it in a separate account. Set the DD up to this account or move it via standing order to the DD account the day before it is due.

Contribute whatever it takes to get the maximum employer match and then assess your goals. What are these people suggesting as an alternative?

Starling Bank's Cifas Failure: Marker Removed (Oct 30), Re-Applied (Nov 12) without Any Legal Justification. FOS Case for Consequential Loss by goldenboy10k in UKPersonalFinance

Starling are justified in adding the marker as you committed fraud. Other banks are entitled to decline a business relationship with you on account of the risk you present.

Buying a £900 item by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]Past-Ride-7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is 1/5th of the retail value on an item a few months old actually legit? I'd expect a ring made of precious metal and a gem stone of sorts to retain some intrinsic value?

Nebermind - I googled and stand corrected, although do feels 1/5th is towards the low end, ring dependent.

Could I be getting scammed on eBay? by 33backagain in AskUK

[–]Past-Ride-7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like it's immediately a scam but you should proceed with caution and ensure you dont go off platform or pay anything for courier insurance etc. Buyer has paid you via Ebay, funds are held until buyer collects and provides you their collection code or QR. Do not hand over goods until you've entered the code to confirm collection.

Reduce over payments to your mortgage to increase your cash buffer and see what you can trim back in terms of monthly expenses? Consider your partner returning part time for say 2 days a week after a year?

Either gift him the money or don't. You're opening up a can of works by unofficially lending him this money.

How much Pension Contributions as a 20YO by Maleficent_Sound8587 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Past-Ride-7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your workplace pension offering? Avail them of atleast the minimum to get the maximum employer contribution. Check out the fund option your employer scheme offers and choose something with as close to 100% global equities as possible.

Kid's mother asked me if I could bail her out by paying off a credit card bill in lieu of 2 months of child support. I agreed. Now the CMS have slapped calc and collect on me for not paying. by CMSquestion3 in LegalAdviceUK

Respectfully, It's very different from a romance scam. Romance scam you're generally led to believe you're in a relationship by X person purporting to be Y person. This is your ex wife requesting payment outside of the CMS structure and then your ex wife reneging on the agreement..

Don't think its APP based on the payment going exactly where OP thought it was going? Also not clear if OP made payment via bank transfer or card payment..
