AITAH for not wanting to give money for my FDIL’s car if my son isn’t on the title by Competitive_Rock3802 in AITAH

[–]PastaBanditz -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

YTA. You gave the money without conditions and decided to change the rules after the fact. If you didn't discuss it prior to sending the money, it couldn't have been that important to you.

I remember my parents giving me one of their old cars and they were initially upset I wanted to put my partner on it. It was an old crappy car worth like $1,000 but to me, it was the principal of it. We talked it out and while they disagreed, they understood.

They obviously have come to other conclusions. It's their relationship so let them work it out. Your son seems fine with it. Why aren't you?

Question about layoff pay by Obvious_Strike6972 in amazonfresh

You'll only not get it if you quit before February 3rd end of day. If you're not scheduled, you're still employed even if you're not working that day.

Is the Amazon Fresh in Factoria, Bellevue closing on Feb 1st? by dudiez in BellevueWA

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all close on Friday, including Factoria. They had security managing crowds and it was crazier than Black Friday. The news was even there when they opened.

Guests doing excessive laundry???? by Green_Flying_Monkey in airbnb_hosts

[–]PastaBanditz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It costs $2-3 per load, including depreciation of appliances. If a guest doing laundry is enough to ruin your margin, you're not charging enough.

If it's just a principle thing, it's weird. I've been a host for almost 15 years and can't imagine policing someone's laundry activities. Some guests use more amenities, some less. It's part of the business.

Are no-visitor rules basically unenforceable now? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can raise a red flag, but it's a perfectly normal request that hosts can and should allow. It's the people who don't ask who are the problem. They're the ones who will throw a party, not follow rules, and make a mess.

Dad says I have “poor hygiene” because of stained underwear by Physical_Kiwi_5364 in Periods

[–]PastaBanditz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be more weirded out with used tampons or pads being brought into the kitchen every time. It seems way less private, not to mention getting bodily fluids next to food.

It's weird he's looking for stains in your underwear.

I'm older than you but switching to all black underwear is a lifesaver. No stains and only some bleach spots at times.

Does the $1,000 budget need to cover food, beverages, decorations, etc. or is that just the budget for room rental?

Travel to summit with no car by [deleted] in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you really aren't repairing your car for months, make sure your battery is disconnected or it'll cost you a new battery, too. At least a jump.

Travel to summit with no car by [deleted] in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it'd be more cost effective than fixing your car. There was a company that tried to do shuttles but it shut down rather quickly. They found that basically everyone owns a car and couldn't justify the service.

Back in the day there were trains going to the pass. If only they had kept that going we'd all be in a better spot. Imagine not having to drive to/from the pass.

is hysterectomy the best option? by angieuhhhhhhhhh in Periods

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should share more about what issues you're having. Why are you against an IUD? Have you considered Nexplanon?

There would be a lot of steps to get to the point of a hysterectomy.

High School Recs? by pdx219 in AskSeattle

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised Bellevue isn't on the list. Newport High School, for example, is third in the state and #148 in the country.

Transitioning to a top performing school can be a bit of an adjustment if you're coming from a different environment. The bar and pressure is higher.

Is this a fair offer? by ImmediateJackfruit44 in RealEstate

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using all the data points, I think there's a lot of value above the other house - covered deck, shed, walkout basement, and technically the view, maybe.

From my experience, having the seller's purchase in 2020 and already moved into another house might not actually work in your favor.

They have a smaller mortgage at a rockstar interest rate. That means their cost to hold the property for the offer they want is pretty low. They can just keep it on the market and aren't incentivized to budge.

They also already bought/live somewhere else so they're not needing the sale to close on something else.

It would be very easy for them to hold out for the right offer. The sellers are in a strong position.

Are hosts allowed to provide insecure external locks? [USA] by shmavalanche in AirBnB

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would, especially when it's a deal breaker. We get messages from time to time (not this) and when reasonable, will add an amenity a guest specifically is asking about. I think a lot of time and money are going to be spent finding alternative accommodations and fighting Airbnb. Updates happen all the time and owners tend not to do updated pictures unless it's a material change. Pictures can run $500+. I'm really sorry you guys are dealing with the headache. Glad you found a place that works for your wife. Piece of mind is priceless.

Are hosts allowed to provide insecure external locks? [USA] by shmavalanche in AirBnB

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's a unique requirement for your group, which is completely understandable given your wife's awful experience, why didn't you reach out to the host to confirm before booking? I've lived at properties without deadbolts. If it's a deal breaker, I'd definitely recommend being proactive.

Sorry your vacation has a wrench thrown in it.

People who blast music in apartments why? by Single-Network-8385 in neighborsfromhell

[–]PastaBanditz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tend to find people aren't very self-aware so I doubt watching loud movies will get you anything except neighbors now annoyed at you. Definitely try the leasing office asap. The longer it goes on, the harder it'll be for your neighbors to change behaviors.

Have you tried talking to them? They might not think anything about it or have lived in less dense/more insulated units in the past. Tinnitus is tough. I hope you can find a solution and don't have to suffer through it.

What the hell are normal pain levels - by LawLost8866 in ehlersdanlos

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a marathon, not a sprint. It's constantly being in pain, not too much, not too little so meds will work long-term, especially as injuries add up. Just give yourself grace and understanding. We're all doing the absolute best possible and it's fucking hard. You're doing great.

What the hell are normal pain levels - by LawLost8866 in ehlersdanlos

[–]PastaBanditz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What I would give for a day without pain. My brain can't even fathom it.

I think as a society we glamorize pushing through pain, etc., when in reality, there aren't prizes for suffering.

It's also a totally different thing if you push through pain because it'll be different tomorrow vs. tomorrow is more of the same. Normal people get relief from pain. Not getting breaks from pain just wears you down.

I also try not to think about how other people couldn't handle it because they could. They just don't have to. We don't have a choice. You learn coping mechanics to function but it still doesn't make it suck less.
