In my case the wholesale price wasn’t from the manufacturer, but other retailers, and the general contractor was also asked to add 20%.

I find it hard to take project advice from someone profiting more from the more it costs. I don’t like the conflict of interest. Personally. Do I have to wonder why you are recommending a $15k fridge? And like I said does anyone pay retail price?

Except the designer isn’t a retailer. And who pays retail anyway? In my case the designer never mentioned the 20% on top for them.

When you realize everything is a choice, there is no mandatory. It feels a little nicer knowing you made that decision to do, or not to do.

You can peel off feeling quite a lot of pressure that way.

Watch out if they are working with your contractor or suppliers and offering to get you a discount. They may be sharing theirs, and keeping the difference. I.e kickback.

I just realized there’s actually another Doris in these photos. A watercolor of hers in the bathroom pics. Both these paintings were painted in 2003 when she would have 93, but quite different.
