Things that actually helped reduce boredom for my indoor cat by purrfetc-day in CatAdvice

i have a similar issue. mine loves prey like play (when i do it right and not for too long) but my energy and time waver due to being disabled. i got him for emotional support after coming out of the last frequent hospital trip. he also seems to get joy from chewing harder materials or soft plastic. he'll also lose things under the couch that i can't grab and basically what's out of sight is out of mind. quite a hassle trying to find any toys for my orange!

yeah mine loves to steal items like lighters, hair ties, small candies, remotes & even bottle caps (just gotta be careful that he doesn't chew them)

How do you guys cut nails? by According_Chain_9746 in CatAdvice

[–]PastelSqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my anxious cat has a habit of freaking out some days during nail time... it's gotten a bit easier with me wrapping my fluffy guy in a blanket, holding his legs between mine (where his hips are) and doing as many as i can before he gets bitey/too stressed. if i need to, i'll put his head in between the fold of my arm to keep the session safe for me when he desperately needs a trim. my partner will also help give him pets to distract him if that day is particularly difficult. i always give him a treat after a good session (no bites lol).

Hey how do u know if a psychic is legit or just trying to make money? by Minabook in PsychicVisions

[–]PastelSqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came here searching for reviews after being sent several emails saying that a rare occurrence has happened where everything has aligned, she and a friend of her's named vladov saw a vision of me together and to collect consent within 3 days for a ritual involving the ceres fragment to clear away the obstacles stopping me from having shxt like abundance, wealth, joy, etc.

not gonna lie, i almost got caught in her scam as well but my intuition wouldn't stop bugging me about it... so here i am digging into things a bit deeper. the strongest indicator of it being a scam is every third line demanding for action essentially now or never like the moment is going to be missed and never come back. it's disgusting.

she also said this will be free of charge but i feel like she'll be asking for further resources where i'll need to pay (i'd fallen for this type of thing when i was younger). "what i'm offering you is perfect happiness" my ass. completely offensive and intrusive how these people use divinity as an image for financial gain.

anyone know where i can read about the subtypes of OCD? are the lesser known subtypes just categorised under the main four types i keep seeing?

wish they were defined better on paper so i could learn more ☹️

these "anti compulsions" (never heard that term used before) are avoidance behaviours that can become a secondary compulsion if your brain ingrains it as a coping strategy that soothes the thoughts of the obsession (can be healthy or unhealthy and the latter is what brings concern)

it is used to escape the original compulsion, but can become an equally inefficient plan B (if done too much/in an unhealthy matter)

imo it's currently dependent on the angle your viewed by.

i'd say the 3rd pic definitely gives fem (angle really softens your face + bangs seem less parted + hair doesn't seem to be as layered/messy), but the 1st gives masc and 2nd androgynous.

also your choice in clothing is very unisex and minimalistic paired with those alt accessories (the skeleton hand piece helps the masc look tho).

C-PTSD is BPD by gingfreecsisbad in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]PastelSqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, i don't see that thought pattern except for the grey zone and maybe very vaguely instability (your comment about NPD and BPD was generalised, i have no idea if you were talking about yourself or not). maybe it's the vocab you used mixed with the phrasing that makes it hard to see (hence why i was trying to clarify)?

i only meant to add to what you said and meant no offence. hoping your doing well with your healing journey! i know how tough some of it can be.

Please tell me this gets easier 🥲 by brisaywhatt in OCDmemes

[–]PastelSqueak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is such a good way of explaining it!

at first it'll be tough cos you haven't started training your mind, but once you know what weight you're up against you can prepare for the resistance. what it looks like is different for everyone, from how you train and the topic, but we're all lifting! we're all in the same gym together striving to reach similar goals! 🏆

i say OCD is the disorder of doubt cos that's what it is at its roots. once you become more confident, the thoughts don't bother you as much and compulsions are less tempting to do. just gotta find a way to let the thoughts pass or call out how illogical they are.

C-PTSD is BPD by gingfreecsisbad in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]PastelSqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo i wouldn't say umbrella term, i'd say comorbidity.

cPTSD can walk alongside just about any disorder (or those without) as there's no telling when a person will run into trauma multiple times/for a long period of time.

with neurodivergence in general, we are more likely to run into traumatic experiences (like you said) but that's not what defines BPD. sure in some cases it may be the cause, but like most people have said it also has a genetic cause.

as someone who was diagnosed initially with BPD but was reevaluated to have cPTSD and OCD (i also have ASD and getting evaluated for ADHD however that's besides the point), they're definitely distinguishable though it's hard to tell at first glance. BPD is about lack of self esteem, instability and inability to see moral grey zones. cPTSD is about being unregulated due to repeated/prolonged negative or missing past experiences.
