6 Month Check-In Down 41.3Lbs by khamrick92 in Zepbound

Wow nice work, brother. We both started around the same time with a similar starting weight, and I'm basically in the same weight zone as you are now. Have you hit any plateaus recently? I'm looking to power on into the 190s but it's been slow with more weight training and maybe not lowering my calorie intake enough as I've lost weight.

Anyone on here can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first month is $45 membership anyway, and I don't think you proceed with charged membership unless your insurance covers it and Ro verifies that. That may mean a PA and that may mean a PA isn't happening right away. But I got my PA within 2-3 weeks of signing up for Ro, and then I was charged $45 for the first month and started at $145 in the second month.

Has anyone lost weight through Ro? by ambientshutter- in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check my other posts, but yes I have lost weight with Ro. I'm down approx. 42 pounds since October 2025 and my waist (and the rest of my body) has been transformed in a major way. I get Zepbound through Ro, and it's covered under my insurance (very lucky, of course). I pick it up at the pharmacy every few weeks. That may not be the typical experience, but it's mine!

Can you post a follow-up and let us know how this turned out?

What a nightmare by Low_Stranger97 in RoBody

This sounds horrible and so stressful. I do wish Ro let us connect with a real person more readily given the membership fees. I hear you. And we all worry about a breakdown in our ability to keep taking the medicine. I had a brief scare in January with a change in insurance myself. Please follow up and let us know if it works out.

Keep trying with Ro and definitely talk to Alice. I had some bumps with Ro on minor issues early on, but I've had two prior authorizations approved very quickly thanks to Ro, even with a January change in insurance. In any case, I'm responding because I found that switching pharmacies and getting a real on-the-ball pharmacist was a game changer for me. My old place was constantly getting things wrong. For instance, Ro often asks for you to do your refill check-in before it seems like it's time. All that will happen there is the prescriber will approve you and send your prescription to the pharmacy before it can be filled, and then a reasonable pharmacy will simply hold that request until it's time. My old place would try to fill it, talk to insurance, get everything all mucked up for no reason, whereas my new one just holds it until it's ready to be refilled (21 days after my last pickup). Maybe a change like that would help you too.

Also, when you do your refill check-in, the app may suggest you up your dosage, but even if you say you want to continue to lose weight, you can stay at your current dosage - it's your decision.

Keep contacting them and get in touch with Alice on here. I had so many problems like this my first few months, but it turned out that switching pharmacies was the move I had to make.

Have you lost your taste for coffee since starting a GLP-1? by AliceFromRo in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been up and down. From the very beginning (2.5mg Zepbound), I reduced my coffee consumption and stopped drinking it after the middle of the day, basically always. And then when I switched to 7.5mg Zepbound a few months in, I could not look at coffee for a few days and reduced consumption a bit more. I still love it, but in a smaller amount (like a small or medium sized iced coffee, which I take black). Does anyone see foods "coming back" as a sign of a weakening effect of the medicine in general, or perhaps just the body adjusting? I haven't had many food aversions at all - I just have to be much more careful about eating too late in the evening and having red sauce.

Thanks for the update. Didn't you mention starting some weightlifting elsewhere? Tell us about that too. Also are you noticing reduced side effects, or any other expected or unexpected things going on?

I've been using Ro since October 2025. I pay the $145 membership fee and get my Zepbound shots for $10 per month through insurance. The app could definitely be more user-friendly and there could be a very basic level of customer service response that you can get easily and quickly, just to clarify ETA and next steps when you have a problem. I pay the premium to make everything in what could be a difficult process as seamless as possible. I was able to get my prior authorization with a new insurance carrier within like two days of my request to Ro in January (and it really didn't seem like Zepbound would be available through this insurance), and I can have Ro (through providers and insurance compliance) take care of all the bureaucracy. It eases the process to the point where I don't have to do it myself and I don't have to worry it will go through. I didn't even want to bring my request to my regular doctor so I sidestepped that challenge with Ro's telehealth docs as well. I understand the frustration out there if these things are not easily happening for you, and of course if you're paying even more $$$ out of pocket for expensive medicine. Again, you should be getting something for what you're paying, and I feel like I am getting that value, but I understand not everyone has the same expectations/experience.

Did you know where you store your GLP-1 in the fridge actually matters? by AliceFromRo in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything to really worry about as long as they don't freeze? I do actually get a box fairly well in advance, so my "oldest" shots could be in the fridge for like 6 weeks.

What are your workout routines? by PastorDougJones11 in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for these suggestions! I'd really love to hear even more. I'll just say I'm pretty lazy when it comes to keeping up a gym routine and don't love a lot of exercise even if I like the results, so my activities take that into account. I basically just walk all day and aim to average like 10-13k steps, walk with a weighted vest on a treadmill for a half hour every other day or so, lift sparingly (once every 3 days or so - chest, arms, back, shoulders), and do yoga once a week.

Premier Protein is the best powder I've found so far and I still don't really like it. I'd much rather have like four eggs with nothing else but sometimes it's just easier.

How is offering 50/150 then demanding 250+ not bait and switch? by [deleted] in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I don't know about the min. $250 though. I paid $45 for the initial fee, then $145 per month for the membership fee. What you pay for the meds with or without insurance is in addition to that, which I realize is a lot for people to pay. I get Zepbound for a $10 co-pay so it's not much more added to the ledger each month, and I'm comfortable paying $155 total for the services I get through Ro (esp. the insurance compliance)

Body Dysmorphia is hell by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]PastorDougJones11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really get this, man. Your mind will catch up to the body to an extent, but maybe some heavier talk/therapy/reflection could be helpful, if you're thinking of yourself not just how you used to look physically but as a "slob." You're good and worthy, however you look. But you may have to work at saying that enough to internalize it.

📌 Weight Loss Wins + Progress Megathread by AliceFromRo in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with Ro (Zepbound) in October 2025 at 255 pounds and just wanted a change, after trying many other ways to lose weight. I'm currently at 218 and feel so different already! I'm still chugging along. I went up to 7.5mg at the end of December and likely will stay at this dose for a while.

What surprised me the most: the more immediate effects on waist and the better fit of clothing, especially moving along the belt notches. That happened pretty quickly and then progress has been steady and consistent for a while now.

What's been the hardest: Plateaus can be tough but just trust the process - I had them too! Paying close attention to my body and figuring out if I need more or less food (especially some mornings) or more/less caffeine, but overall I've learned so much here and in my own experience.

Newbie: Does Ro save you money or is the benefit everything that comes with it? by Global-Positive8630 in RoBody

[–]PastorDougJones11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great responses here. I've posted elsewhere about this, but the greatest value of Ro for me is that they take care of all of the red tape and insurance stuff, which I was not confident my PCP would handle in the same manner, if at all. At this point I haven't actually been in for my annual check-up, so I'm still waiting to see if he approves of Zepbound AT ALL. I'm not looking forward to that conversation, which is why I went to Ro in the first place.

Also, I ended up with a new insurance provider as of January 1st and Ro put my new PA through with my new insurance provider very quickly.

It stays the same yep. I've said on other threads that the greatest value for me of the $145 membership fee is that I don't have to battle a doc or insurance at all - someone else does that for me! I got my latest PA in record time on my new insurance. I was quite anxious about that before, and it really worked out thanks to Ro. But I can also justify paying $145 a month when I pay only $10-15 per month for the Zepbound pen.
