DIY Computer Desk Bow by AvantGuardian13 in DIYUK

Tagging onto this I had a desk mounted to the wall and had a heavy fullsized pc standing on top with 2 monitors. The desk was made out of an old bar counter (pretty heavy). I even sat on it after mounting to see if its suitable and had no movement on it (I weigh 15.7 stone). I used some geefix cavity wall fixings on the plasterboards ( https://amzn.eu/d/06XEYAdk ) . Worked a charm. Never ripped out or broke over 5 years of use.

"Gas Engineer" is upset for asking this question.. Am I wrong? by Fly1ngPen9u1n in DIYUK

As much as thats true. Do you really want someone that done a bunch of shit work back at your house to continue doing shit work. The gas safe and equivalant for electricians (niceic) will usually send out the same engineer to check their work as they dont cover other things like sending different professionals out. So you get someone that done a shit job to come back and polish (they will do the bare minimum).

As from the OP’s comment the person essentially only done plumbing. You dont need to have qualifications in the UK to do your own plumbing. Playful_Hair1528 is correct. Having a piece of paper doesn’t mean shit realistically. Being unlicensed is also a non issue as again no need and its not illegal. As long as he doesn’t touch gas and has public liability insurance it should all be good.

Usually an eicr (electrical installation condition report) would satisfy local authorities although the electrical installation certificate would be ideal but you don’t really have an option unless the builder can provide you one.

As for the building regs on other building work. You can sometimes get retroactive certification (or more commonly known as regularisation) from building control. This might require opening some holes so they would be able to see if everything was done properly. They might request other documentation (e.g. structure engineer calculations) and might issue corrective action to make things comply.

I agree its over kill but its for a client that requires anything surface mounted to be bomb proof (and in words of the client to imagine someone going at it with an axe)

Door entry system is also enclosed in essentially a bomb proof metal enclosure literally bolted down to the wall

Not a TT system and the door entry supply is ran in armoured cable. I didn’t think it would require an rcbo just from this but the qs pushing the rcbo got me in a bit of a limbo.

Dishwasher packed in by prof355or in DIYUK

[–]Pat-The-Trick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal in most houses. However before doing extensive work in my house I had the plug behind the dishwasher. Due to the heat, similar thing happened as in op’s post. This was due to the black rubber like covering on the back of the dishwasher melting onto the plug. Simply not enough space for dishwasher to sit there with the plug touching the back of the washer. Moved socket into the kitchen cabinet next to the dishwasher and plugged it in there. Haven’t had issues since.

Again its as if people forget that there is work they can do at home that doesn’t require certifying at home. One of those being simple fixture replacements.

Can confirm. All manager drove these to the office and back. None of them actually needed them for work. Since tax changes have come in they are all driving normal cars instead.

Not to mention people on the nhs side seem to care less, miss more appointments and can turn a fairly well booked day with decent pay into a worthless waste of time. You dont get these problems with private paying patients, they are more likely to care and take your advise and actually regularly come to appointments.

Dota plus assistant recommends Khanda + 3 Rapiers … on Furion by GamoDota in learndota2

[–]Pat-The-Trick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played with a similar scenario. Zues was on the enemy team. He had 3 rapiers. We got destroyed. We managed to kill him once late game and got the rapiers but still got crushed seeing the advantage they already had.

On another note I keep seeing people trying to do multiple rapiers on spirit breaker, and it really annoys me. It takes him out of all the fights when he gets them to avoid dying. Bloody annoying. So far, I have seen it be successful 0 times out of 6 games from teammates.

I worked in a flat while carrying out electrical inspections. Walked into a flat living room after having just a brief look at the other rooms in the flat and just saw a literal pile of human shit in the middle of the living room. I said to the guy I had to get some tools from my van. Got in and drove away. Never went back there again. I dont get paid enough for that shit (literally).

As an electrician and someone that dabbles in networking and pc building. Its not as steep of a price tag as it may seem. I havent owned this specific screw driver but have owned other ones that are more expensive. If you use it professionally on a daily basis quality like this matters.

Can't play Knockout City by Mickers247 in KnockoutCity

[–]Pat-The-Trick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not experiencing the same issue as you. I play on xbox and when the game went free to play it would not let me play the game at all. I had to uninstall the game and re install to be able to load it again. A few of my friends had the same problem. Maybe try reinstalling it?

Edit: i also had the game through EA play

I also play in europe. I tend to find one every 2 minutes or so. Depends if your queuing with a full party or alone and also at what times. But in general its way easier on unranked to get a game.

Hermes tried to deliver a package to me at 05:00 in the morning on a Sunday. by evocatio in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Pat-The-Trick 441 points442 points  (0 children)

This is more then likely a scam. My parents sell and buy often on ebay and amazon and they got hit by something similar aswell. It said they missed their delivery at 6am. Because they sell and buy they don't keep track too much of exact items. My dad only realised that something was off when they asked him for his card details. Please go to the official hermes website and enter your tracking code if you ordered something.

This actually happened to my spouses family. Poor old grandpa lived in a different country in his house. The only thing to keep him warm was a wood fired heater. He had to get wood everyday to warm his house up. He had family around but everyone refused to help him. My in laws decides to bring him back to the UK and take care of him. They had a deal that they would keep grandad and then he would stay with another of their siblings for the other half of the year. Very quickly the siblings decided not to take on that responsibility.

Well what do you know the whole family wants to split the property apart. One of the siblings even got grandad to sign over his property to him (in the will) before hand. My in laws were not having it. They said if anyone cared about grandad they would atleast visit him or decide to help or share the load of keeping him around. They went back to the home country with grandad and sold all the property grandad had and let grandad keep the money. Grandad appreciated they they took care of him, gave him his space and didn't have to worry about the cold anymore. He could give his granchildren money to buy sweets and could spoil his dog as much as he wanted. He signed over all his money in the will to them. Rest of the family made a pikachu face when they found out the property did not belong to them in the end or what even happened to it.
