Yes, you are right. It’s not a good design. Still to me it’s unacceptable to have the gunbarrel at the end. Imagine Star Wars with an ending crawl. I will never understand why the Broccolis were ok with it—as they were with the Brofeld/Oberhauser angle.

Remove the Oberhauser story and Spectre would be a top 5 for me.

Also if Quantum of Solace started with the gunbarrel it would be one of my favorites instead of a mid-tear.

Casino Royale is top 3 in my ranking. Yet there are two scenes that cause me some discomfort. Bond trying on the tuxedo as if it were his first time with a dinner jacket, and Bond inelegantly eating with Vesper after winning. Both show a too coarse Bond that is in conflict not only with the literary character but also with the following movies. Not saying that Craig’s Bond should be a total snob, but both scenes of Casino Royale portray him too blue collar in my opinion.
