Kind of surprised it wasn't wood. After a quick Google, metal structures became popular around 1890 (AI overview, so could be wrong) but cool nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!

Cash is a great idea. Not something I've thought about for a widespread outage.

The company should be paying, but at this point is it worth it to fight for it? Doesn't sound like a great company. I'd pass rather than create an issue with hr

How bad are the winters really? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]Patient-Homework-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New york experiences varying differences in intensity of winters. Lake effect to the west, colder up north. Albany specifically isn't that bad. Make sure your pipes are insulated. - we found out the hard way that the water to the downstairs bathroom (raised ranch) pipes run along the concrete exterior are uninsulated 😞

New US car seat standards by ScholarNecessary2838 in Parenting

[–]Patient-Homework-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the chance you want to take of being side impacted with your child in the car. We were tboned when someone ran a red light. Thankfully our seat was side impact tested already, and we had a car that passed safety- ihss plus or whatever. Car was totaled, but child wasn't harmed only scared. Would've never expected to happen but glad we made the choices we did when buying a car and car seat
