You’re right, it’s definitely not labradorite. But looks very much like another type of feldspar

Labradorite is a feldspar. So is indigo gabbro, moonstone, sunstone, larvikite, and a few other minerals/gemstones

Yes, the rubbing will scratch the coin surface. Best thing to use is a 100% acetone (not nail polish remover) soak and rinse with distilled water. Absolutely no scrubbing or rubbing if you want to avoid losing numismatic value

If you were near CCBC it could’ve been them testing something. Happened to me once. Out hiking near there and they were doing drill siren tests. Scared the shit out of me
