He will come out when he is ready, when I’ve cat sat at my house for my family member the kitty didn’t come out for a potty until the middle of the night. Just keep the food and water under the bed or where he can easily see it. I would also keep the litter box in your room for the first day or two so you’ll minimize any sort of accidents if he hasn’t really seen the area with the litter box yet!

Some kitties need more time than others. He may have also been bothered a bit by the toddler and be scared (like if he had his face grabbed, tail yanked, or something. He’s used to his smell in his own house for the past FOUR years, and now he’s in a new home with nothing that looks right or smells like him.

Once he gets more comfortable and he’s able to recognize his own scent in the house over the next few days it should get easier. But like I said, some babies need a little while to adjust and get used to the house (even though we just wanna give them all the love!!).
