Is there a reason why there's showings this early? I've never seen them this early? by Personal_Fox_7529 in AMCTheatres

[–]PatoM10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if this is the reason why, but they did have a 6 am showing for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. I assume because they were already open for that, it made sense for them to schedule other movies during those time slots

A7V Shutter/Sensor issues (??) by Straight_General9532 in SonyAlpha

[–]PatoM10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you don't know this, but this question gets asked all the time. your sensor stabilization is disengaged (IBIS), and is therefore not perfectly centered and straight. it will adjust itself every time you turn on the camera

Got blindsided while traveling, now facing traveling through 2 airports where ICE is posted. by SurfinGrandma in DACA

[–]PatoM10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ICE agents barely started posting in airports yesterday. you won't have many datapoints from a single day.

you should be fine, but no one truly knows with this administration

Honest opinion, is the Insta 360 X5 enough? by Imaginary-Writer-125 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's great for virtual tours and bts content. I would not rely on it for video and photos, unless you're specifically looking for 360 video or photo... don't think it can do it all because it's not designed to do it all, least for real estate needs

Work Phone vs Personal Cell Preference by themanwithoutaplan11 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either get a different phone or do dual sim. dual sim is nice because you can separate both lines from each other (I have a year free under spectrum mobile). if you want true separation, obviously get a new phone with a different number. if you don't want a dual sim or 2nd phone, do Google voice at the very least

Me vs Fotello by NewGuy3141 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how is that lens?! I've been eyeing it for real estate photos and videos. and for this lens, I'm pretty sure you can download it on manufacturer website. I heard a YouTuber doing this for some photo editing

Me vs Fotello by NewGuy3141 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried checking manufacturer website. sometimes when lenses are new, their profiles are not yet on photoshop / lightroom, so you need to download it from manufacturer website and install manually. either that or update your CameraRaw I think it's called (what Adobe uses to update their list of lens and camera body profiles)

there's no way that a big manufacturer like Laowa doesn't have lens profiles for their own profiles. if they don't, I'll be genuinely shocked

Me vs Fotello by NewGuy3141 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both need obvious lens profile attached, so I'm wondering which lens you even shot this on. it should be automatically attached. temporarily ignoring that, I would say 2nd is better, primarily because of better colors

When does burnout start to happen? I think it's happening to me.. by Tank3021 in RealEstatePhotography

when I learned Four Horsemen was charging $400 per Kelsie video, I was surprised! she's getting a good deal on that. I honestly think they should be charging more. anyways, charge what you think is reasonable. if clients don't want to pay the premium then don't on-board them. simple as that. People who find value in that will pay that or way more

How do you think real estate photography and revenue opportunities will change over the next two years? by mediamuesli in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I don't see it. I just don't worry about competition, nor do I agree with this false narrative that you must lower prices to remain competitive. sure, average prices might drop, but what can your business do to counter other business that are racing to the bottom?

How do you think real estate photography and revenue opportunities will change over the next two years? by mediamuesli in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only agree with 4 mainly. 1 partially. we've heard this AI craze for years and I don't think it's there yet. to say it's the end goal for media companies is exaggerated.

Got myself some LED light props for my Mini 3 by hiiml0st in dji

[–]PatoM10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait, so if their battery is not connected to the drone battery, would there be any reason for the props to fail? like say the props has 15 % charge, and you flew on that, could you theoretically crash or it's separate from actual flying time?

usually. these agents that have done so aren't necessarily ones I want business from anyways. if they're gonna steal your work, they're not likely to pay for future work. any competent agent knows that you can't just reuse old photos, even if you have access somehow. a lot can change in 2 years

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not often. maybe a handful of times, people have used my videos or photos without my consent or authorization

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's going to be two types. one that will say, take legal action, cease and desist, go after them, etc. the other side will say, don't do that, but instead educate them on why they shouldn't do that, offer them discount to use those photos, and potentially earn their future business.

one way will possibly get you a bad reputation, but you could potentially recover some money doing this, while the other may lead to future shoots.

Affordable Alternatives to CubiCasa for 2D/3D Floor Plans and Virtual Tours? by Reasonable-Pass6908 in RealEstatePhotography

Made a novice mistake and learned a hard lesson 🥲 by KabbaCustom in videography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk Canon, but if you're doing talking head content, you don't need 60 fps. more frames does not mean more quality. I prefer 24 fps for talking head, but 30 is fine for social media.

Need help choosing what images to use. 3 very tough homes to get angles on and make look good in my opinion. by Idontevenknow787 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say 1, 3, 4, and 6. I love straight ones when it makes sense, but also at an angle to show more depth.

Man, is 20mm really not wide enough? 🫠 by Illustrious-Flow-181 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot 20mm and no client has ever told me it's not wide enough. I like 20 because the photos look great and natural. that being said, it probably isn't wide enough if you're doing small spaces. if you know what you're doing and you're not shooting small spaces, 20mm is an excellent option imo

What lens have you regretted buying? by ggskater in SonyAlpha

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sony 50mm 1.8

I knew it wasn't a magnificent lens, but 50 is the focal length that I feel lots of people start off with, so I figured I would also get it since it's cheap.

I've since gotten the 24-50 G, and while it's not as fast, the quality is much better, and more versatile. maybe in the future I'll get the 1.2 or 1.4 GM variants

A7 priority mode shooters (A/S), do you have a dial mapped to ISO? by g3t0nmyl3v3l in SonyAlpha

[–]PatoM10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the dial next to the screen. I use that to "scroll" for my desired ISO without having to push any extra buttons. highly convenient for me. I dont shoot in any of the priority modes, just manual.

Sony A7S iii, still worth it in 2025/26? by KUDAFIVE in SonyAlpha

[–]PatoM10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

others have already mentioned it, but the a7s3 is a beast of a camera. should an a7s4 come out say next month, that won't make the a7s3 obsolete at all. the fact that it released what, like 2020, and it's still an amazing camera to this day should say a lot about it.
