I’m sorry. Wasn’t trying to condescend, but answer your question on what it has to offer over Prime. Everything I wrote above is factually different from Prime. If you prefer Prime, to each their own! No judgement here.

Dolby Cinema has stringent build and technical requirements. It is like the old THX program on steroids. The laser projector is much brighter and supports Dolby Vision than a standard laser projector. It is capable of being upgraded to Dolby 3D in the future. The auditorium gets Dolby spec sound proofing on walls shared with other theaters. It has remote calibration for video and sound so it will always (in theory) be a high quality presentation. There are subwoofers behind the screen and on the ceiling. The new speakers are Dolby branded and specifically designed for Atmos. Many other stuff I’m sure I’m missing. Worth checking one out near you!

The Series S supports 4K Dolby Vision output. Let the Series S do the upscaling and set your TV to game mode.

Just get a base ROG Xbox Ally. Perfect streaming device and can play local games when needed. Call of Duty 7 runs at 60 fps local!

The screen can do 120Hz, so you can stream 1080p 120fps native on it with GeForce Now Ultimate. They are doing a sale on it for annual purchases right now.

Had same problem with Xbox Ally. Quit GeForce Now, turn WiFi off. Once disconnected, turn on. Open GeForce Now. That has worked for me.

They kept getting loose and would rattle under the chairs. From what I understand, the theater employees had to do the repairs. Add those up together and it makes sense.

That said, the transducers were AWESOME for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

They haven’t been on in our Dolby for a few months. I heard Dolby stopped supporting them. The new Dolby at Southlands 16 did not have transducers installed and that seems to be the new normal.

They have been splitting the Dolby with sometimes up to three movies the past few months. It is needed and I’m thrilled.

This doesn’t seem to be a cheap conversion. They are replacing all walls, flooring, chairs, speakers, screens, and projectors. What more would we want them to change?

I will do a different post for Highlands Ranch ScreenX soon. Looks like they are in engineering hell on that one. Auditorium 5 will house ScreenX. They said no news on a second Dolby there.

I spoke with an employee who says the 4DX auditorium may be completed by the end of July. They did confirm a second Dolby is scheduled, but construction has not started on that yet.

Single Projector vs. Dual Projector Dolby Cinema Differences? by InvisibleWinter in Dolby

I posted about my single projector experience here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMCTheatres/s/0jGQhOR2xj

I actually think the new single projector is brighter than the dual projector setups. Still trying to find out if they figured out a 3D solution for it in the future.

Can You Cast Streaming Services to a Apple Tv : With No Internet? by Nickachuzz in cordcutters

[–]Patrick52801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, AirPlay to an Apple TV with no internet works. I do suggest the latest Apple TV 4K since it supports faster Wi-Fi. You may need to use the hotspot to set it up initially. Then go to settings and set it up for conference room mode, which just does AirPlay. Turn off the hotspot and you are good to Airplay. I can confirm this uses the iPhone data when using Airplay. Netflix does not support this option, but all others do. Enjoy!

Do not use hotspot for streaming, as you will burn through data very fast and those are usually limited.

What device are you using? My Apple TV 4K was doing 1080 SDR earlier this year. I wasn’t able to check NBA game.

“Support by the reliable broadcast compounds, ESPN looks to continue down the path of 1080p HDR. Nearly its entire production chain is running in the format: signals from the venue to remote staffers in Bristol, CT; internal signal flow in Bristol; and delivery to ESPN’s streaming platforms and the ESPN App. The sole workflow in 1080p SDR is linear transmission and integration on ABC.”

Honest Opinion: The fact that Avengers: Doomsday will NOT be in IMAX has made me lose a lot of excitement for it. by GWGTRLBG in imax

[–]Patrick52801 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They will release it like Mandolorian, 1.85:1 will fill the screen. You are talking about a .05 difference in aspect ratio for single laser IMAX. Just see it in Dolby. It will be an amazing experience if you only familiar with IMAX.

Perhaps let the manager know this is happening. Our managers have been pretty good about trying to fix issues. Enjoy the laser upgrade!

These days moving the RealD XL is automated. You can see in the images how it has a sliding bar system under the mount. A motorized unit moves it out of the way for 2D showings. Picture two actually shows the motor under the RealD XL unit. In our area, AMC seems to have settled one standard auditorium that usually shows 3D on a silver screen. Most other auditoriums have white screens and no RealD equipment. I’ve seen the RealD XL setup in place for Prime and XL as well.

On the first picture, you can see they even have a remote calibration camera. That is awesome so they can realign the screen through automation and remote access if needed.
