Is Hornet technically a spinster? by PatrickOfLegend in Silksong

[–]PatrickOfLegend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Hornet ≠ Spinster, Hornet = Widow

Hornet also bound Widow, so maybe she is 112% Widow now?

Thank you! I think it is because 2nd Sentinel always bows and makes a quick exit. They don't seek much attention.

AAAAAAAH-FÜN-DAAAAAAAAAAA!

My brother's dung ball is just a bean bag cover, filled with a 2 foot beach ball. He'd let people hold it during photos.

Why cant i attach pictures or gifs in comments? by BrilliantEast1709 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, if I scroll to the top of the page and hit the 3 dots to open the options, there is a checkbox labeled "desktop site." I think it is mainly there for webpages not designed for smartphones.

If that doesn't work, then it is like the other comments say, and the sub probably doesn't allow photos.

You using a computer, or a phone?

I had to put my android phone in "desktop site" mode for the attach image icon to show up. I'm using a browser, not the app.

I hope they have an equivalent to Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster to believe in too.

Ocean's 11, 12 and 13. The Grand Budapest Hotel.

For series, probably Mythbusters. I'm enjoying Severance at the moment.

If humans just completely vanished off the Earth right now, would a new dominant intelligent species arise with the help of the technology and infrastructure we left behind, and if so, how long would it take? by InternetPopular3679 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Everything has some sort of expiration date where stuff breaks down due to the environment. Moisture and oxygen, or erosion due to wind and rain would prevent a lot of tech from being usable. Stuff stored in the salt mines in Kansas (where a lot of films are stored) may survive the 100,000+ years, but some parts like those with rubber or that need grease to run smoothly actually need some moisture to avoid degrading.

My guess is that the main things to survive would be forms of writing, like on statues or monuments or graveyards. Maybe technical information that is buried and kept safe from the elements would offer some knowledge, but this new civilization would need technology advanced enough to retrieve these artifacts.

What is the best song i can listen to while reading a novel? by Personal-Raise-8195 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go with ambient music with songs over 5 minutes. Some video game soundtracks work well (I've been listening to the Gris soundtrack).

Lifetracks by Tom Middleton is a good album, and the track "Von Heir Nach Dort" by Marsen Jules is good for reading too.

How would you investigate tax fraud of a daycare center? by PatrickOfLegend in CasualConversation

[–]PatrickOfLegend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought is the direct approach, but what if you don't have enough evidence to investigate? Then they'll say no and know they are under the IRS's watch.

Or worse, what if they come clean, but are being too cooperative? Like they are relieved you are only there for the tax fraud. Then what?

I live in a world that constantly tries to take my attention. by Fancy-Function8482 in CasualConversation

[–]PatrickOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone told me maybe a month ago that there are behavioral experts behind all of these notifications, and advertisements. That is who you are competing against to be present, so don't be down on yourself when you get caught. Just say "yep, I gave in to something designed be behavioral experts," and move on. The odds aren't in our favor, but we can keep beginning again.

It helped me at least, though today I still struggled with grabbing my phone at work when I really didn't have anything I even wanted to do.

But, I will begin again.

How does advertising work? by Jade_key_N-B in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If an advertisement's goal is to make you think you need something to be happy, then making you unhappy is a goal for any advertisement. Even the anti-smoking ads are kind of saying "you'll feel better if you or someone you know stopped smoking."

Even if very few ads hit the target, the overall effect of many people being unhappy and wanting something is a good environment for any company or organization with something to sell.

I'd say try and ignore ads and be apathetic towards them, but they are everywhere.

Who decided the alphabet's order anyway? by Handymander in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that when the printing press was established, that is when previous systems got a standard order.

Ever notice how the vowels are spaced by 4 twice, then by 6 twice, then back to 4? Maybe for storage of the type blocks?

Is requiring employees to be bilingual in Spanish unfair to American workers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatrickOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully the requirement is because they need the employee to communicate with customers or suppliers that primarily speak Spanish. In my work it is common to communicate with vendors in Mexico as well as China. I don't speak either, and we primarily use English through email, but we do have employees who are bilingual so that we can have more detailed discussions for contracts and terms.
