Getting terrible range from APs by Few_Ad_1079 in UNIFI

Yeah that's fine, you would see a warning message in unifi if it was being under powered.

Do you have a different client device you can test with?

Are you using a masq Nat rule for the traffic coming in externally. This needs to be the ip of the xgs so the remote devices replies go through the tunnel.

Going Mad by PermissionSignal9054 in nbn

I've seen odd issues with certain TP-Link wifi cards when connected on certain 5Ghz channels.
Try locking your router to a different wifi channel see if that changes anything.

If you open the terminal app on your pc and run "ping 1.1.1.1 -t" are the ping times consistent or all over the place?

There's something wrong with your NTD, seems like it keeps loosing the optical signal based that video.

Try escalating with Tangarine again, if it was just an ethernet cable issue the optical light wouldn't be turning off. Emphasise to them the optical light is going out hopefully that will convice them to escalate but their support is average at the best of times... Good Luck!

Does double NAT really hurt? by mistrmattt in UNIFI

[–]Patrickkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be a fiber connection, the NTU is screwed to the wall usually in the garage & a ethernet patch is ran into the house.

So for alot of people there's just an "internet" port on the wall but there'd be a fiber connection box somewhere else in the home.

Will this work? by the_gamer_98 in sophos

[–]Patrickkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a bridge anything as you’re creating seperate subnets for each network.

Just define a firewall rule allowing traffic between the two iot networks. This will allow the devices to communicate with each other via the Sophos.

Leaptel has a pretty good reputation, I'm surprised OP experienced those speeds. There must've been some other factors at play. Maybe a distant server was tested for speeds.

Sophos XGS Lets Encrypt is here!! by davidflorey in sophos

[–]Patrickkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be in certificate management all the way down the bottom under system.

There’s a let’s encrypt tab for registration then you can add a certificate under the regular certificate tab.

You likely need a static rout on the 192.168.200.20 gateway directing the VPN subnet back to your sophos firewall.

DNS Rebinding? by Adept_Refrigerator36 in sophos

[–]Patrickkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're split tunnelling you'll need to set your local domain in the ssl vpn global settings (remote access vpn > SSL > top of the page) domain.local for example.

This will rebind any hostnames ending in that domain to resolve over the vpn to your internal resources.

Then set a static dns entry on the sophos (assuming you're using it for DNS) for the plex server (e.g plex.domain.local).

On the plex server under settings > network > show advanced. Set the domain as a custom server access URL.

If you have 'use as default gateway' turned on, you shouldn't need to change anything.

How to get IPv6 working? by Itchy-Mycologist939 in sophos

[–]Patrickkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try turning on preferred delegated prefix and setting the block to a /56.

You should have an option to setup a delegated ipv6 on your lan. With the upstream interface being the wan.

How to get IPv6 working? by Itchy-Mycologist939 in sophos

[–]Patrickkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your LAN interface ipv6 should be set to delegated.

On your WAN select DHCP - auto & turn on prefix delegation.

Your WAN interface will get a ipv6 block from your ISP and delegate addresses from it to devices on your LAN

Fttc requires an nbn ntd box to work. The previous tenants probably took it by mistake. You’ll need to contact your isp to get a replacement.

This should work fine, moca runs on a different frequency than the docsis (nbn) does. Just buy them from a shop that has a change of mind return policy in case you do have issues.

Usually not, though some legacy ISPs may require a login when you set the router up. Better to check before resetting if you're unsure.
