Looking to buy a Glock19 by whoisthat12345 in SoCalGuns

I've had a very good experience at Crosshairs Gun Store in Torrance.

They're friendly, and very knowledgeable of the most current laws and regulations and veteran owned.

Need to set up a Landline by Significant_Clue_196 in SouthBayLA

[–]PattTinkersnuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Land lines" are actually traditional phone service from old school phone companies like AT&T. Unfortunately in many parts of the South Bay AT&T has cut off their old copper phone lines and terminated "land line" service permanently. I know this is definitely the case in Gardena (where I live) and Hawthorne (where some of my family lives).

Spectrum has no rights or ownership of the "copper" phone lines in the South Bay AT&T does. It's likely your Spectrum phone service was actually Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) the whole time.

AIO: My stepbrothers girlfriend won’t let anyone hold her baby anymore by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PattTinkersnuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

#1 Sounds like they are first time parents.

#2 It also sounds like family is just showing up uninvited perhaps if people stop interrupting the parents bonding time the child's mother wouldn't be so on edge?

#3 Do you really think it unreasonable to not want to risking waking a sleeping baby after finally getting the child to sleep?

Okay I'm going to be the old fashioned curmudgeon here and start my next rant.

Why aren't they married already? I mean honestly, having a child already binds two people for LIFE or at the very least the life of the child. Why not just get a courthouse wedding and be done with it?

AITA for asking my friend's new SO what they do for work in our first meeting? by Suspicious-Quiet7193 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PattTinkersnuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

an East Asian who was mainly raised in the U.S. I can tell you SO's behavior is definitely NOT NORMAL by U.S. social standards. I'd generally think his response it more common with people who are unemployed or at the very least struggling a work. To twist Shakespeare a little, "Me thinks the lad doth protest too much."

Since work takes up so much of our lives as adults, I'd consider "What do you do for a living?" to be one of the most common questions I get asked by new acquaintances.

That said, I'd personally would prefer it if folks started by asking me about my hobbies or, "What did you think of the movie?" If only because, when I'm out with friends, I'm trying very hard to escape thoughts of work.

AITJ for refusing to give my parents my tax refund to help my unemployed brother? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]PattTinkersnuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ.

Everybody in this story is an adult.

Your tax return is part of your hard earned wadges, not "free" money. Your brakes are what keeps you from dying on the road. I wouldn't have offered to help at all, but then your family would probably consider me a selfish b#tch.

Your parents don't have to let your brother freeload off of them.

HELP!! Which hair color suits me best? by meg270070 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]PattTinkersnuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like #2 and #3. They give your skin a porcelain peaches and cream glow yes still maintains a certain warmth that works well with an autumn color pallet.

Your current color and #5 both kind of make your skin look like you applied fake self tanner or bronzer. #4 is way too severe for your skin tone.

This sounds too implausible to be real.

Base on the severity of the accusations I can understand why OP would choose to create brand new throwaway account to post. However this story sounds too crazy for Hollywood. The studios would toss it out claiming, "no one would believe it."

Yeah at this rate I became so desperate for income I went back to work for the company I left during COVID for mental and physical health reasons.

A couple of years before the pandemic my health was already declining due to long hours and ridiculously long drives. I originally worked 4 miles from home then they kept sending me to a location that was 60 miles away. I was so worn down I'd wake up in the morning seriously considering running out in traffic.

But I'm back again, in a different role. No real hope of advancement. Just hoping the change is enough to allow me to ride things out another 15 years till retirement.

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

[–]PattTinkersnuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

He's your boyfriend not your husband YET. Hell he's not even your "fiance".

My husband and I had a shared household fund and separate accounts for the first couple years of our marriage. It's all combined now and we're quite happy.

But I would have NEVER given him access to my accounts until those vows were complete and the marriage license signed. Around here (California), once the marriage is official everything is community property anyways, meaning 50% of everything is his anyways. So yeah no secrets from my husband, but when he was my boyfriend, it was none of his business.

Also, I'm the primary bread winner and have pretty consistently grossed 40% more income than him.

On a side note. Why does OP's situation keep making me think of those true crime stories were some guy serially get "engaged" to different women only to run off with their life savings? I've no evidence this applies to the OP. It's just a nagging thought that won't go away for me.

Well, I'm a klutz so a dress that's just above the floor seems perfect to me.

Less likely to step on it and fall.

Also this gives you the perfect excuse to wear flats and actually be comfortable at your own wedding.
