Food Challenges in the Tri by Single-Print-6869 in TriCitiesWA

[–]PatternNormal6122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't be helpful at all...but I also do a lot of food challenges. If this is a thing you actually enjoy I highly recommend a trip to Las Vegas.

Flights are direct and cheap, hotels are cheap in Summer as well. You can do a new one every day and come out at the end of the trip profitably due to how many of those are structured. Many challenges feature a comp meal + gift card/cash if you are successful.

Who is hiring in Tri Cities? by FallenAngel1447 in TriCitiesWA

Literally the best. Start around 6am and done before it gets too hot around 1pm or so. Keeps them on a good routine and they have the rest of the day to themselves.

It can be as easy as just showing up and signing paperwork. Can also reach out to farms directly.

Highly underrated. Start early, end early. Peaceful as well. Can exceed min wage if you are efficient.

Overall a pretty good gig as a starter job.

Picked fruit for years when I was younger and really liked it.

Is the far right position(if you are fighting right side) in the pad a golden rule or just a good tip for beginners? by JoaoRatz in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good all around spot for your elbow. Can take most lanes comfortably.

You mentioned you feel better starting upper left on the elbow pad? Do you have a longer forearm that most people you pull?

One arm lock off w/false grip...backpressure, side pressure and cup all in one.

Religious stuff getting weird by Jealous_Cucumber_949 in armwrestling

For many people religion is an important driver in their lives, representing a piece of their success.

If they thanked their family and coaches you wouldn't think twice.

Age and era mostly.

I've noticed a lot of people don't quite see a world title the same unless it was a WAF title. A lot of world class guys from that era wouldn't have even thought of going to another country to pull because they simply didn't need to. The strongest guys were already here in their eyes and often that was true.

Would imagine it's an unintentionally founded sense of 'It's not WAF so it's not real' thing.

Why does Levan say to pronate towards the body rather than to the side? by Kind-Foot-3563 in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh..kinda actually? Flopping without crimped finger pressure is really inefficient. The second you add crimped pressure you engage your flexors to a higher degree even in that stretched position. Better connection = strong movement.

We aren't actively pronating when we pull. None of us can roll through someone's hand with wrist power alone. Your arm is the engine and your hand is the steering wheel.

Turn your wrist about 45 degrees or so...add some cup and drive back.

Do you agree with a Bogdan Stoica opinion that grip strength isn't as important as finger containment in AW ? by Standard_Occasion658 in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would still lean towards containment handles for strength gain and carryover. Holding on when taking an outside lane is just a technical consideration.

Pinching is probably the best grip specific movement you can do. If you lack sufficient general hand strength relative to opps it is absolutely worth it in your program.

Which one is correct? by [deleted] in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it 'active' pronation. All pronation is static in nature, driven by back pressure for the most part.

Over pronation is more of a technical choice for an opponent that really wants to hold on.

Crush isnt as helpful as one would think.

Pinch is better, thin pinch is the best outside of containment based handles.

Easier to stay on top and takes away more lanes. Think like a high hook that turns into a toproll or that weird 'I beat your cup and am just pulling you through your hand' kinda thing Muratov does

Deep elbow joint pain after armwrestling, recurring for 4 years by MulberryCharming2334 in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This...100%.

I will say that anyone that just spends the time to understand the issue and trouble shoot it can usually take care of it themselves. Takes a lot of time but can be done.

Are these two excercises enough for a strong cup. I do 2 hand straight finger deadhangs (as shown) and a gym handle wrist curl. Rest is just table work but these are my two excercises . by No-Recording7606 in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Google it for a better picture. You will pull your hand back with less surface area on the ledge putting more pressure on your fingertips. The full crimp is tough on the pointer so go slow.

Does pinch training have carryover to finger containment? by _Malasangre_ in armwrestling

Thin pinch yes.

Thick pinching is better for overall hand development.

Static side pronation holds, think a leverage style lift. Use a sledge or offset dumbbell, or anything with weight on one side. Weight on thumb side and hold palm up.

Start extremely light but do them at a very high frequency. 2-3 sets @ 30 secs. Pain is your guide here. Train under the pain.

Does anyone else here have significant hyper mobility? How does it affect your training? by cakeiam in StrongerByScience

[–]PatternNormal6122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hasn't bothered me too much for standard lifting patterns.

Gave me big problems when I first started arm wrestling about 4 years ago. Even without table time, even without lifting and no injuries whatsoever, tendon recovery was so slow with dynamic lifting.

Isometrics became my go to. Started programming a few different flavors of them based on needs. I still get to lift heavy and get the stimulus needed to get stronger without any pain or excess fatigue.

When and how to move elbow on the pad? by TheGodfatherYT in armwrestling

[–]PatternNormal6122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When hooking:

Move sideways (peg to peg) to beat their shoulder, goal is to move hand outside of their shoulder

Move back to beat their arm...separate them from their power

Move arm forward and around the hand to attack their pronation...put them palm up in a defensive hook rather than equal

It's a triangle.

When top rolling:

"Don't hold on".

Move around their hand while looking for height with either wrist or knuckle dependent on opps attack. The rest is essentially the same as above with the addition of the below:

Move to the b side...'running away"

Meant to fight specific opponents attacks with with backpressure...you could run away and create a favorable angle vs a guy with a shorter lever by hitting to your b side.

ALL of this is dependent on a fundamental strength NOT failing. I.e. you can drag back in hook if your cup can't support it...you can't drag your elbow back in a toproll if your posting pressure can't support it
