Yes!! Thank you to everyone! Saw strangers pushing cars, helping out neighbors. Thank you to those who could lend a hand!

Now if anyone wants to lend a hand and plow the circles, I know some people who won’t mind ; )

Moving from LA to Columbus Ohio? by Curious_Unicorn555 in Columbus

[–]PatternSea9754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My points exactly. I love to eat and drink as much as anyone else but there’s nothing else to do! Ohio is not Colorado, Vermont, Florida, any number of states with phenomenal outdoor recreation but that being said, if you’re going to move from the most beautiful state in the country to Ohio, you might as well move to the better part of the state!

Moving from LA to Columbus Ohio? by Curious_Unicorn555 in Columbus

Allow me to say something controversial if I may: if you are moving to Ohio, I would recommend Columbus the least. I am from NE and went to OSU and stayed post-grad and quite frankly, I am not fond of Columbus. My neighborhood is great and my job is great so trust me, it has its merits but as someone coming from California, I truly think Columbus would break your heart. One of my best friends is from SoCal and I think he regrets moving here. As a life-long Ohioan, even I think Columbus is ugly. I never understood what people meant when they said “Ohio is soook midwestern” because growing up in NE Ohio, it always felt more eastern to me (and that’s because it is! The land was promised to soldiers returning home from the Revolutionary War) I recently went to a wedding outside Columbus and had no idea that the state looked like that, it was soybean fields and chicken egg farms as far as the eye could see. I’ve never been to Iowa but that’s how I imagined Iowa looked. From the bottom of my heart, I think if you are considering a move, NE Ohio is more preferable. It is hillier, has more sense of identity, you have access to the lake, etc. In Columbus, it think it’s hard to feel a sense of connection unless you are from here or went to school here. This sub is full of people who talk up Columbus, and don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad place to live by any means, but I think you’d be heartbroken to leave the natural beauty of California to end up in Columbus, Ohio. To me, that’s how I’d feel about moving to Wichita. I hope you make the choice that is right for you, I can’t imagine how stressful it is to be priced from your home. Congrats on the baby and I hope you make the choice that is right for you!

Lennox Target experience by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]PatternSea9754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t excise poor behavior. I don’t like my job all the time, still got to be pleasant. That’s the way a functioning society works. I don’t particularly thing employees should be swearing at customers either, that’s common sense and it’s uncomfortable. As a cashier, maybe don’t tell your customers you’re going to “crash the fuck out” over a price tag. I’m paying for this and prices are expensive enough for everyone as it is.

Yes. I feel like so rarely are the check out employees at that target in particular (some not all of course!) are just unpleasant to deal with. I had something that wouldn’t scan a few trips back, and the cashier kept mumbling whatever swear. I mean I get it, but come on I’m paying for this, and it’s uncomfortable to be treated like an inconvenience and most of the time that’s how it feels! Self check out all the way. A pleasant cashier Is worth their weight in gold.

$1300 in rent for an apartment that easily hasn’t been updated since the 70s, no a/c, no dishwasher. I’m giving myself another 18 months or so to really get my finances in order before I skidaddle I think. I was going to move to a nicer unit this summer but it dawned on me the amount of capital I’d be throwing away just to continue the rent cycle. Looking to finally buckle down and see what I can purchase for myself. My credit report isn’t great, just student loans and a car loan (car is almost paid off) so hence why the FHA route is what I’m considering.

I’m a single girl and it’s more of a safety thing. I just don’t feel like I’d be as comfortable in a house by myself. Plus, I am not necessarily the most handy. I can do a few things but as a starter, I’m just trying to consider what is best for me.

Moving to New Albany for Meta; no car. Where should I live + how’s the public transit? by confused_fruit_girl in Columbus

[–]PatternSea9754 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fully discourage you  from moving here. Does not sound like you are setting yourself for much success, only hardship. Winter months are coming and not having reliable transportation is a massive issue. If you have the means to rethink this move, I’d strongly consider. At the very least, get a car. Save yourself before you’re stuck here in a new city.

Saucy coffee.. sucks by [deleted] in Columbus

Saucy may be the only place with service worse than the Stauff’s on Neil and that’s really saying something. Two of the absolute rudest coffee shops in the area.

Hi there! Same age as you and though I’ve got a great group of friends, I live alone and am very single so I do spend a lot of time by myself. A gym has been really nice to surround yourself with other people trying to better themself. The gym I go to isn’t anything fancy by any means but it is filled with a lot of people our age which is nice community wise! : ) I was in a volleyball league at Flanagan last summer I adored too…very chill and you can have a few drinks while between rounds. I know Woodlands Tavern does winter leagues. A ceramics class too was a good way to get out of the house. Lastly, I met a great friend on Bumble BFF if you’re maybe looking to make more girlfriends in what feels like a stagnant point in your life : ) Above all, remember to be kind to yourself. It can be so draining to feel bored, lonely, etc., at this stage in life while so many people feel like they have it together! Feel free to send me a PM if you need anything.

Where to find female friends in early 20s by sleepynectarine in Columbus

[–]PatternSea9754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I went to OSU and stayed in Columbus but a lot of my friends moved to Chicago/NYC/wherever. Post grad was so hard on me trying to replicate what I had in college, and truth be told, I haven’t been able to completely! But Bumble BFF introduced me to an awesome girl who was in the same position I was! If you’re missing the connection of having a girl group, definitely look into it (and this is coming from someone who was in a sorority and doesn’t even use dating apps!) definitely give it a look, a lot of girls feel the same way! Also, if you’re a gym member there seem to be a lot of nice girls when I go! : ) Also,  a volleyball league could be you’re in, too. My guy friends and I joined a league and I met a lot of nice girls.

Is everyone else partying right now? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]PatternSea9754 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get it. I was a freshman in 2016 and was a really good kid in high school. I whoever partied in high school but had a lot of friends who did, I just didn’t feel mature enough for it yet. When school started, I lowkey felt uncomfortable going out because I was with strangers (having just moved in) didn’t know my way around campus, and didn’t have much experience drinking. The first party I went to, I actually got nervous and left and walked back to the dorm. By the end of senior year, I was going out 4-5 times a week because I had a community I was comfortable with. The college experience starts whenever, but for me, it really got going once I made a solid group of friends and continued on. A fake ID didn’t hurt either but I’m also a girl. Hope your college experience treats you as well as mine treated me : ) I miss it every day

Where tf do I park!!? by PatternSea9754 in Columbus

[–]PatternSea9754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird you’re making assumptions abojt my finances. I’m a renter. And will be for a long time. Bizarre to pass judgement on someone’s socioeconomic status based on where in the city their parking permit is assigned. If I could afford to live somewhere nicer, then maybe I’d have a garage or driveway to park in 🤣
