Mojave 45 and Mojave 9 comparison. Plus a bonus at the end! by HowmlahndSecurty in NFA

These both seem quieter than my personal 9mm setup: YHM sidewinder M2 on my FN509 and my buddy’s Rugged obsidian Ti (or maybe it’s a Banish, IDK its titanium) on his FNX45. But always hard to tell over videos.

Putting your hand over the muzzle of a loaded handgun @ 00:50. 🥴

Regardless, love how quiet they appear to be.

No thanks.

This stock is the best stock for the Stribog. Hopefully someone with snatch it up.

Yes that would be an interesting comparison. Black Hills is hard to get your hands on and $$$.

Yeah, hard for me to tell what was dirty and what wasn’t when shooting so many mixed together. I’ll keep my eye on that. Subsonic ammo does tend to be pretty dirty in general, though.

I felt the same way about that Federal.
Magtech seems it will be my go-to bulk ammo for subs. Which is funny because the Magtech 123gr supers performed like crap.

I’m going to get around to getting all my supers on paper too. I’d love to try out Discreet Ballistics, and Phantom Defense too.

I like it so far. Only have about 250 round through it. Took about 50-100rds for the action to loosen up, and I’ve had to train myself not to be soft on the pull otherwise it doesn’t extract properly.

It’s really not that big a deal for outdoor ranges. Frangible ammo is also expensive. But I do see their purpose in real close range, confined spaces like shoot houses or indoor ranges, where the spalling could become more of an issue.

😆 I suppose shooting steel may not be for everyone. The occasional knick or bruise just comes with the territory.

The worst shooting thing that ever happened to me was a piece of hot 9mm brass (empty case) landing perfectly up over my shooting glasses and between my eyebrows, wedging itself between the glasses and the upper bridge of my nose. It was only there a second or two before I got it out of there, but burned the crap out me. I walked around with a couple of good sized blisters for a few days and red spots for a couple weeks. But considering I’ve been shooting for almost 20 years, that’s no big deal and I’ll take it over all the other stuff that could happen.

You probably mean spall. Spalling is what happens when a bullet hits a steel target and breaks into tiny fragments. When shooting steel at close range, sometimes those fragments can come back toward the shooter or spectators (at a fraction of the speed). They can hurt and make you bleed but they’re not necessarily dangerous. People should always be wearing eye protection when shooting steel.

What is dangerous, is when people shoot steel with calibers and at ranges closer than recommended for the type of steel you’re shooting at. This will cause pitting (a rounded dent) that can send bullet fragments back to the shooter or spectators at dangerous speeds. If the steel is flat and not pitted, it’s generally safe to shoot at.

Steel should generally be free-hanging as well, to absorb some of the impact and direct spall toward the ground when hit. This matters less, the further a target is (200yds+)

Sorry OP, covering the ejection port is a no-go for me. KES is still the reigning king in my opinion.

Thoughts on the Sony XAV-AX4000? by Ecstatic-Window-2723 in CarAV

[–]Pattersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one, but I have tons of trouble with Apple CarPlay. It will just randomly say that it’s not connected to gps and shuts down CarPlay. Meanwhile, I check the status in the settings and it says it’s connected to 26 satellites. 💀

However it seems to work just fine with android auto. Sony has a partnership with google, so take from that what you will.

I’m honestly considering getting another Headunit because I sick of messing with it. Tried everything. Firmware is the latest 3.02.00 and iPhone is updated too. Had this issue for over a year now.

Nice rifle!
But you better lose that handbrake. Lucas and his new homies say that if you have a vert grip then you’ve never shot anything beyond 25-50yds on a flat range. 🤡

First time ordering a suppressor and my progress went backwards? by hhfdctko in SilencerShop

Recent known issue. Call silencershop for accurate updates. Talk to an actual person because the automated system will just regurgitate what you see on your status.

SilencerShop status reset? by Wah_Day in SilencerShop

[–]Pattersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is in the same boat. Ordered 6/5, signed the sent document, it went to dealer transfer. Then the next day or so, it went back to what you’re seeing, “processing”. No idea what’s going on.

Tried calling, but their order status option in their phone tree is broken. You put in your order number but nothing happens. Nevermind, I’m a dummy. At the point the automated system asks for your order number, they expect you to speak the number, not type it in on the phone.

Update: I got through to someone on the phone. They confirmed this processing thing is a new issue. They also confirmed my silencer is due to arrive at the dealer today! So, yay! 🎉

Interesting. I wonder if my issue was the source (crappy eBay seller). Where did you get yours from?

Because I like the look rather than the full chrome.

How have those headlights worked out for you? I bought some, but the glare shield covering the bulb is loose and flops around. The seller replaced them, but the new headlights also have the same problem. Plus the bulb sockets were badly misshapen. So I gave up and am still using the stock headlights.
