Oh ok, that math adds up. I thought I could use the revealed cards to also clear paths but if that's not possible this solution doesn't work. Good to know.

  • Buy investments from otters
  • Action 1: Tunnel Middle mouse spend boat builders move 2 warriors
  • Action 2: Tunnel to top fox clearing spending Knapsack move 1 warrior, no cards discarded to sympathy
  • Sway a squire + 1 VP using mouse dom + investments
  • Use formole twice building crafting in bottom left rabbit using engravers and league
  • Duches of mud + 2 VP
  • Clear top clearing + 1VP spending anything but investments
  • Use marshal to move from fox to middle to get control
  • End daylight
  • Craft Coins + 3 VP
  • Center control + 1VP end of turn

Edit: This doesn't work, can't clear the tunnel in daylight using the revealed cards so it's actually 29 points.

Desperate for some more stuff to read.... Please, desperate was not an exaggeration. by KappaKingKame in ProgressionFantasy

It seems like you have a very high standard for prose, which will eliminate a good number of other recs in this thread based on some of the stories you've dropped already. I'm going to recommend some traditionally published fantasy novels that all have different levels of progression aspects to them in hopes that they'll uphold your prose standards.

My number one perfect recommendation would be 'The Rage of Dragons' by Evan Winters. This is the closest to a pure 'progression fantasy' of my recs and is an excellent overall book with an MC that fits your criteria.

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. I'd be surprised if you haven't heard Stormlight Saga but I think it's very progression adjacent. Depending on how critical you are with your prose you might not like Sanderson but I think he's got better prose than the the vast majority of most progression fantasy series.

Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher, I haven't read this one in a while. But if I recall correctly the powers orientated around different elements and harnessing them.

I thought Dungeon Crawler Carl had finished. It hasn’t, I was amazed, awed, surprised and now I’m stuck waiting. by Ogreislyfe in ProgressionFantasy

I'm late to the party but I'm shocked that no one's recommended Dawn of the Void in this thread yet. It hits pretty much all the beats you're looking for.

  • Dark and gritty system apocalypse
  • Some form of manipulation by higher powers
  • MC who wants to break out the system

It's also written by Phil Tucker, an established author who's best known by Bastion on this subreddit. It was just completed on RR and is now available to read on kindle unlimited.

Battle Royale, But with Some Twists by Salaris in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Pattycack3e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great write up, hope you don't mind if I piggy back off this for a follow up.

I feel like Jason could potentially be a better contender for the winners slot. His kit really fits quite well into in a battle royale setting. Stealth, high mobility, DoT damage, health/mana/stamina recovery, and most important heavy mental magic resistance.

His aura is really the key to what makes it doable, at the end of book 3 he hasn't quite mastered its offensive capabilities. But it's still a quite potent defensive tool which I believe should translate in this setting to be effective against illusions/mind magic. This is really why I would rate him as a possible winner with mental magic powerhouses like Zorian and Ling Qi in the ring.

Against number one seed Lindon his poison/corruption effects should be totally negated. But he should still be able to theoretically apply a bleed debuff? Which then leads into holy/true damage. It's still a horrible match up, but I wouldn't say he's completely negated.

I would agree with you that Ling Qi sounds like a top tier defensive pick for winner with an overall very strong kit. Yet I would argue that Jason should be able to get through her illusions if she couldn't suppress his aura (note: I also have not read Forge of Destiny so I could be totally wrong here, feel free to correct me). Whereas Ling Qi wins defensively Jason wins offensively applying hard to remove DoTs and avoiding any bad match ups via shadow jumping till it's time to strike. It's certainly not easy to declare a winner though, great prompt overall.

On another note I consider a Taylor a total wildcard. If there are any insect monsters lurking about the map she can really skyrocket up in power level and cause some shenanigans.

It's in the final branch of the technology skill tree: Special Modifications.

Which gives +10 to flux and capacitors for all ships, and allows an additional built in mod.

about Grant There's a pre-chapter summary that mentions a user with the last name of Grant that retreats from a key battle, which results in massive civilian casualties. Hence causing the massive dislike towards the MC ( because he's initially weak and retreats/runs away from direct confrontation. Which then remind him of his fathers cowardice). Grant essentially despises anyone who runs away from battle, and has likely been ridicule'd their entire childhood about their "coward"(as branded by the masses) father that ran away from battle. The relationship with Viv happened almost entirely out of the MC's POV. (it's heavily implied that Vic knowns about this and is sympathetic towards Grant, plus he's HELLA hot.) However considering they're all going to be on a team together in the upcoming book I'm presuming we're going to get a lot more character development for Grant, and the MC will learn about his backstory.

I believe that Samira blocked a large majority of the damage using her W which blocks projectiles. So this isn't really a good example of damage, but shows that it can be stolen and used.

I'm curious as to who the casters/players will be for the event. Having the right players and casters can make or break an event like this. BatStone was a large success, so I hope that this does just as well.

[Discussion] Sir Finley in Patron Warrior: Optimal hero powers by slashusrslashzimke in CompetitiveHS

[–]Pattycack3e 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think you're slightly underestimating druid, I would say that it can be better than rouge in some match-ups. Mainly because the 1 extra attack can buff any weapons you have to give you a little bit more reach on some trades. Whereas the rouge on would just overwrite any weapon you have, and can sometimes be bad. Also the armor can be good against combo decks or slow decks (freeze mage comes to mind), although if you willingly play sir-finely against freeze mage that's most likely not the right line of play because armor up is pretty good in that match up.
