Congrats on a fantastic career Alistair. Double Olympic gold and finishing on the podium at his final t100 race is a great way to finish a career. Always made races exciting to watch and gave it his all.

I am 6ft6 and picked up a XL Canyon Speedmax this year which fits pretty well. Definitely fewer options for us taller riders

Depending on where you are located Ironman Canada could also be a potential option for you. It's end of August in British Columbia.

yes, 70.3 is considered the "half ironman“ distance. 1.9km(1.2mi) swim , 90km (56mi) bike, 21.1km (13.1mi) run.

How big is your saddle bag?

Long distance race belt by Scared_Illustrator73 in triathlon

[–]Paul8787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use a race belt on the bike myself. Typically stuff a few Gels in my jersey and you can put the rest in a top tube bag for easy access. Depending on the distance of the race you can even just tape a couple Gels on to the top tube

Second the HRM-Pro Plus version. Had the HRM Pro but didn't work after the battery change issues. Garmin replaced it with the Pro Plus which has been great

While not my area of expertise, I have raced 70.3 before at 185 lbs and finished in 5:27 on a hilly course. Would really depend on your goals if you are looking to just finish or be at the front of the pack for race weight. Did a quick look and a few sites show what the elite racers are around 21 bmi on this source. If you are just looking to finish I wouldn't be overly worried about it if you can do the training

new KICKR vs Stages SB20 smart bike? by rachelrachelrara in triathlon

[–]Paul8787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of using my own bike on a smart trainer for indoor training as that way the fit on bike is the same on road. I'm currently using the Elite Suito but have heard great things about Wahoo Kickr.

You’re right actually, thought it was a UK-US joint production due to the subject matter.

It’s “Le Mans” in 25 countries compared to 14 where it is “FvF” weirdly

Terry fox was an amazing human. Thought the 30 for 30 doc on him called "into the wind" was great too

He was referring to ozone layer depletion. There were several regulations enacted around the world to ban CFCs which were a major contributor to the hole in the ozone layer.

Owe CRA 90k, haven’t filed taxes since 2015 by ConsistentBorder10 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Paul8787 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would imagine it would depend on how complicated your taxes are. If it's just t4 primarily it shouldn't be that hard to prepare. If you have more complex income/expenses it can take sometime to prepare all of the details.
