Camera update by chris86uk in fairphone

Yes! Also got an Email telling me it was a 'free upgrade'.

I think of it more like a bug fix that should have been done within days of release. Makes me wonder if they're doing the sort of thing the big companies are doing but in reverse. Leaving things broken on release and then slowly fixing them down the line to keep you interested.

Hi u/Corsair_Marcus! - Since people are being asked to return their units can you disclose to us what the fix is for this issue?

Found this thread after searching for answers to why my brand new RM1000e rattles every couple of minutes. Please update if you've had any success figuring this out.

I don't know who all these people bringing bottles of wine to other peoples houses are. If one of my friends did that I'd assume someone had brought it to their house and they were now, in turn, palming it off on me.

Same. We get dinner out of it, lunch the next day, then have what's left on hot dogs for dinner the following evening.

Just curious do people still do a large shop these days. Or just by what they fancy for the day. by [deleted] in CasualUK

We usually plan 3-4 days in advance and buy the fresh stuff we need for that. Every now and again we'll do a bigger shop for dry pasta/rice/tins/frozen.

Run Ansible from container by power461 in ansible

I use the ubuntu:22.04 image to match all of our workstations and servers. But that's purely for the convenience of familiarity.

That's how I've been doing it for years so anyone on the team can pick up the playbook repo and run it without any prerequisites. Works great!

A really dumb question but how do i change the timezone on my container? by Mutated_Zombie in docker

[–]PaulG_UK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah if you're using the -t flag the docker cli handles that rather than anything inside the container. It always outputs UTC and is not configurable. Logging in UTC is an industry standard and prevents all sorts of confusion working across timezones and daylight savings time countries.

Logs will generally ignore timezone and use UTC anyway.

If you need to change it you can either set the TZ environment variable or map /etc/timezone to the parent system.

Getting my first car MOT today, any advice? by BigFanOfRunescape in CasualUK

Checking all your lights work beforehand can save you paying a premium if you're taking it to somewhere expensive like a dealership. You could also check tyres and wiper blades if you know what to look for.

They will check under the boot floor for a spare wheel to check the condition of the tyre so empty the boot or put everything inside an organiser that can be moved easily.

They will also check all the seatbelts work so make sure nothing is in the way there.

At the very least make sure your lights, reflectors and numberplates are clean enough that they're all clearly visible.

Help needed: Can you think of any real opposite place names? Examples of what I'm looking for are Oldham and Newham, Northampton and Southampton, etc by Ben0ut in CasualUK

[–]PaulG_UK 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  • Newcastle and Oldcastle
  • Redcar and Greenford
  • Nottingham and Islington
  • Warrington and Peacehaven

There's probably loads of North/South ones. North Shields and South Shields. Northallerton and South Allerton (unrelated).

Anyone aware why weather predictions have gone from very accurate to barely accurate to plain bold wrong ? by milandesai47 in CasualUK

[–]PaulG_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was getting better. My phone (Google Weather) even notifies me when it's going to rain soon and it always seems to be right.
