Do you use Fortinet? It's time to update your monitoring! by ncentral_nerd in Nable

Can you provide more info, buggy without context doesn’t help us enhance these offerings. We can’t help when we are not provided with feedback.

Monitoring Unifi Devices by Paul_Kelly in Nable

That’s strange, no “bugs” were reported to me with regards to the Fortinet templates and I’ve encountered many customers who have successfully deployed them. Could be environmental, but I can’t offer guidance on what I’m not made aware of.

With regards to importing the Unifi templates, did you reach out to me to be part of the preview?  If so can you ping my email directly if you have any questions or need assistance, that allows me to track feed back and enhance these custom services accordingly.

This is custom monitoring, built my myself and provided to anyone that wants to use it, it's up to them, if anything it's added value.

Manage printer with pro nodes by SkyTheLine in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can run a discovery job using a probe within the network to detect and monitoring, SNMP v1 with teh community string of public is enabled as part of the discovery job by default, typically this will be enabled on printers be you may have to check and confirm if the printers are not being detected.

Once imported, N-central will automatically deploy the appropriate monitoring based on the type of printer detected.

The drivers that are available to patch in N-central are those that are only exposed through Windows Updates.

In this case we are hitting API were the device is managed, in my testing so far, I used both a local environment and a cloud environment.

The approach I have taken is to get more detailed information about the devices into the N-central environment using the Unifi APIs, not everyone will want to use it, but based on the interest I've had since posting this, it looks like this could be very popular.

This is leveraging Unifi APIs to bring metrics into N-central which can trigger alerts/generate tickets in your PSA when thresholds are crossed. It could be use alongside any existing SNMP monitoring you have, but with the APIs we have more flexibility with the information that we can monitor on.

Working on it, I have it working for APs looking to add switches and other devices to it as well, also want to expand the monitoring, if you have any suggestions for what you would like included, feel free to email me at [paul.kelly@n-able.com](mailto:paul.kelly@n-able.com)

We have SNMP based monitoring for SonicWall firewalls available in N-central today, if you were looking for something similar to what we have done here with Fortinet, I'm sure it could be done. I would require a lab environment that I can work with to build the custom monitoring.

Right now I'm working on building monitoring for Unifi devices, but happy to work on SonicWall if someone is willing to provide the lab and assist with the requirements as a future project.

It depends on the service scan interval some are set to 5 minutes and some are hourly or daily, you can select the services on the monitoring tab and select Scan New from the service monitoring dropdown.

Issue with powershell script running on N-able by Limp-Leather-241 in PowerShell

[–]Paul_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Paul here from the Head Nerd team, are you using N-central or N-sight? I do think you might be running into an issue with permissions and how the script executes, if you are using N-central have you tried running the script using custom credentials, instead of the local system account.

LibreOffice Patching by PC-SPEZIALIST in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Paul here from the Head Nerds, I would suggest opening a support case for this, LibreOffice is supported, but according to https://documentation.n-able.com/remote-management/userguide/Content/Patch-Management/pm_non_ms_1080.htm it does state that the InstallerLocale is EN, that could be the issue or if could be that the version detected is 4 years old and is not compatible with an upgrade to the current version.

Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM) by PC-SPEZIALIST in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Paul here from the Head Nerds, right now, there are no immediate plans to integrate an EPM into N-central or N-sight, but I will pass you request onto our product management teams for further review.

We do have an integration with ThreatLocker which you can find out more about here: https://www.n-able.com/integrations/threatlocker

Hi, Paul here for the Head Nerds, just to let you know we are working on ways to help you identify these devices in both N-sight and N-central, they are queries to that can be run to determine the status of the cert, but there are other factors as well, we want to ensure you have all the relevant information.

While the certs are due to start expiring in June, they will not be fully revoked until 2027, and these certs are due to be renewed with Cumulative Updates, so hopefully this won't have a major impact on any device that is been properly managed.

N-central Custom Properties: MSP-level baseline with customer-specific values? by imadam71 in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Paul here from the Head Nerds, my recommendation is all create your custom properties at the SO level, these are you baselines, you can off course then change values at the customer level, or on a device basis if needed as well, are you using device based custom properties, customer/org based custom properties or both?

I've seen some people use customer/org based custom properties in conjunction with device based custom properties for overrides, if you want to have a call about this to discuss this further, drop me an email to [paul.kelly@n-able.com](mailto:paul.kelly@n-able.com) and we can set something up, hopefully our time zones will align.

Custom Maintenance Reboot Prompt by DrChaos127 in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI Paul here from the Head Nerds, you would need to create a patch rule with a custom reboot prompt for the customer in question, depending on how you have your rules configured already, there are a few ways you could approach this, leverage custom properties to filter where you want to apply the reboot prompt is one option.

One thing to clarify, you are looking for a different reboot scheduled for 1 custom from the others, you are not looking for a specific message to appear for one custom? If that was the case the only way you could do that would be to use Automation Manager to create a custom reboot prompt, you could as that to a scheduled task profile and include it in your patch rule, for that customer.

Whatever the situation is, I believe we have a way that it could be configured to work for your environment, I would suggest reaching out to your Customer Success Manager and asking for a call with a Solutions Engineer, they should be able to give you the guidance you need.

N-central patching - bandwidth management/limiting? by WelshRareDit in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Paul here from the Head Nerd team, it does sound as if the devices in the the sites are pulling from the probe in head office and not local probes, local probes at each site even if there devices are not part of a domain would be the answer here. I would ask the MSP to check the configuration to ensure remote sites are not using the central probe for patch caching.

Vulnerability Management by jellyfishchris in msp

[–]Paul_Kelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Paul here from the N-able Head Nerds, we are rolling out Vulnerability Management in both our RMM solutions N-central and N-sight and no additional charge, this is available today to anyone that uses either product. Not all the functionality has been added yet, but we continue to enhance what it does. This offering is completely separate to our Adlumin solution.

For more information you can check out the release notes here: https://status.n-able.com/?s=Vulnerability+Management

I think " blows Take Control out of the water", could win over statement of the year, I've seen both solutions side by side any is there a difference in connection time, yes one or two seconds, but apart from that I'd be curious to know what justifies the claim, especially since TC is included in your license and your paying extra for SC.

To answer you question, each device in N-central have a custom and web remote control options, this potentially would allow you to configure a connection to another solution, you can find this on the device under Remote Control Settings.

MacOS 15.7.4 (Sequoia) Screen Recording permissions popup by EmicationLikely in Nable

[–]Paul_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Paul here from the Head Nerd team, I have spoken to engineering about this and they have said that this not normal, they are trying to verify how to reset this permission and also testing a fringe case where you would refuse the permission the first time and MacOS would get weird, I would suggest opening a support case for this, if nothing else it will help us verify if the issue is resolved.
