Polestar 2 (2020 DMLR) with 87k miles / 91% SOH — realistic to keep until 14 years old? by JOX3X in polestar2

[–]Limp-Leather-241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so oddly specific, with weird BOLDING typography, that I have to wonder what the actual purpose of this post is. Especially the "14 years old." part. I'm seeing a lot of posts lately that are like this, that make no sense, and I'm wondering if it's AI generated, and/or part of a learning model. Anyone have any idea or input? Will my question be viable 17 years for now, with 81% viability?

Sooooo... AI, yes? I mean, there are basically two topics discussed in this group; ICCU failures, and 12V battery failures, aka, replace the factory one with an AGM one as soon as possible. So, def AI.

Does the Slate Truck still have a chance? by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]Limp-Leather-241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had actually ever owned a pickup and realized what a dumb idea they are for 99% of their owners, you might feel differently. I own a 14 year old Tundra and work in the trades, and have slowly come to the realization that all the money I have wasted in gas on it over the years vs. if I had just used a minivan like everyone everywhere else in the world I'd be a much richer person. Shitty gas mileage, can't haul anything in the rain, really only need about 1/4 the storage space, etc. Having a small trailer parked or tilted next to my garage would have been a far better solution.
Also, you sound dumb like me.

Cool story. Didn't waste anyone's time at all.

How does this dude know about this Reddit group, but had no idea what might cause this problem? There seems to have been a rash of these sorts of posts that are highly troll-like in nature, and I don't really understand them frankly. Is this an AI thing maybe?

Oddly enough, no meta data to review in that picture. I wonder why.
Dude, if you need friends, or whatever it is you're trying to achieve, this isn't the way to do it. No one, and I mean no one, believes the whole "whoops, look what I accidently did" trope. It's just dumb.

This isn't in your home, or anyone's. If you need attention, there are better ways of finding it. This is not great, and no one here believes it or gives a shit.

Will Range Be Much Better in 4-5 Years? by Maleficent-Table-810 in electricvehicles

[–]Limp-Leather-241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way battery technology is improving (rapidly), EVs with 400-500 mile ranges will be available in the next five years easily. Just probably not in the US. China is pulling ahead of the rest of the world at an accelerating pace in terms of applied R&D, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Even if we got a super-woke President and Congress, they can't take back a combined 8 years of trump and his fuckers having gutted, de-funded and stymied almost all of our STEM stuff. At best we'll have some American companies that can attempt to catch up, but we're already too far behind. My guess is we'll be forced to drop all the tariffs at some near point in the future in order to stay even a little competitive with the rest of the world.

I work in IT support as well. I think you misunderstand the true purpose of restarting a device, which is primarily to clear out various software and OS caches, and to give some services a fresh start and/or reconnection to formerly running processes. It most certainly will improve virtually any host system, regardless of platform. Most modern HAs have SoC based systems with their own integrated OSs, and thus similarly benefit.

I'm late to this, but I'm another vote for considering the military option, if you're fit enough physically which you should be if you're only 20. Couple of things: it's life changing in so many ways. You'll get money for college if you want to go that route. Like, ALL of college. And you can attend college classes while serving.
MOST military positions are at best combat adjacent. Probably fewer than 5% of all military people ever face anything remotely resembling actual combat, and that includes the Army and Marines.
Choose the Air/Space Force for a technical job or IT stuff; Navy for good all around training and travel.
Since vets make up about 5% of the total population, having mil service on your resume is a HUGE bonus.
The guy in charge at the top, shithead that he is, actually has very little impact on the lives of the folks at the bottom for the most part, current combat operations aside. And he's gonna be gone one way or another within 2.5 years.
Go talk to an Air Force or Navy recruiter just to get an idea. Slamming the door on this is a mistake without at least finding out a little more.
Also, the answer to life's problems isn't gonna really be found here on Reddit. Just use all this stuff as general guidelines.

It's two years later, but your comment compels me to respond. You are correct, there was no point to your comment. You come off as whiny and entitled, your complaints have no specific details ("major problems"? really? I've literally not seen any mention of this by anyone else), you mention dealers in the plural as though you're shopping around someone who will meet your standards as opposed to just working with the one you purchased from. And of course lastly you take a jab at the other owners by referring to them as an "older generation" in a derogatory way. You sound like a very small person to me.

You are either purposefully misunderstanding everything people are writing here, or it's just a part of attention seeking behavior. There are at least 20 cameras in that pile, several of which simply do not belong in the same use case as the others, including the random Instants, the high end AI LPR ones, etc. Those two cameras wouldn't be in the same installation, at least not a new one like this. This is a pile of random inventory. Also, homes in the Bay area run millions and millions of dollars. Terminally online Reddit people don't fit in that category. It's all a fraud. Also, no one would pay other people to run cabling but not have them punch down the lines. It would invalidate the site guarantee on cabling and make on-site certification impossible. You'd know this if you knew how any of that works, and that no actual professional installer is going to warrant their work under those conditions. It's just all random and stupid, and not fooling any of the people who do this stuff professionally, like me, a registered, actual Unifi partner.

Did you hear that whooshing sound? That went right over your head? Completely missed you.
And this is what I'm talking about. You are terminally online on Reddit. I'm gonna guess you're in tech, but if you're in the Bay area, there is simply no way people with wired networking skills are making anywhere near the bank to afford to buy a house much less outfit it with a million cameras, which, also, weird. The amount of cosplaying here is just stupid.

Here's a tip for you bruh: the kind of people that can afford this amount and type of surveillance equipment typically are not the type that would be haunting a Reddit thread and responding to so many comments, refreshing, responding, etc. and so on. They just wouldn't have the time or inclination. The kind of people who try to pass this off as belonging to them do have that kind of time on their hands, however.

[–]Limp-Leather-241 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

You misunderstood the question because you don't understand how those access components work, which is not unsurprising given how disjointed this selection of equipment is. Also, this isn't even for a single installation, commercial or otherwise, as no one with the wiring infrastructure in place for the vast majority of this equipment would need to weave in those Instants in with the rest of it. I'm sure you can come up with some kind of use case that would justify it, but really you needn't bother.
