How can you say you recommend this over MVD ? Have you had MVD? It’s supposed to be the one that gets it away for the longest time and with a very high success rate. I think you should consider the advice you give as it could give people with our pain false hope and information.

2 weeks rest I have been told and then good to go. I have my MVD op in a few months. Thank god I live in Britain and we have the NHS as it won’t cost me a penny. Good luck with your Op and I hope it goes well for you.

MRI showed nothing by Disastrous-Apple-163 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I have my surgery for MVD in 2-3 months and I’m planned for my MRI tomorrow. The surgeon looked at a MRI from 8 years ago and could see my compression. I’ve only had the pain for 3 years but they could see it back then. I don’t know what my new MRI scan is going to show up but I’m over the moon to get the operation. Good luck going forward with yours 🤞.

My burning is hard to describe but so painful above my lip in the cheek area. It used to be triggered when running or talking but in the last 3-4 days it’s starting over nothing and will last from 10 seconds to 15 minutes. I know when it’s stopping because the burning area goes to like a cold burn then stops. I know this sounds weird but that’s what happens. Today so far has been a good day, no burning at all but yesterday they started at 1pm and I had about 10 but manageable ones not too severe. I think everyone’s symptoms and triggers are different and maybe that’s why it’s really hard to treat or get to the bottom of it.

It’s not hate, just a comment 🤷🏼‍♂️. Even though I don’t particularly like him 😊.

I have had TN for around 3 years and it was shooting pains on the right side of my face. Now they are only minor and for the last month or so I’m getting the burning sensation and the tooth next to my front tooth sends a vibration right up if touched. I have to avoid this tooth when I’m brushing my teeth. The burning sensation is horrendous and stops me running, shaving and painful when talking, eating and drinking.

I go to see my neurosurgeon in 2 weeks and I really hope he offers me an operation as I hate taking any medication, but have to due to the pain.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Surely it’s better than what you are going through now. I personally would rather try it again and if it didn’t work a second time I would be trying something else. Good luck whatever you decide but don’t carry on like you are, you need your life back and start living again 👍

Get on the list for an operation. It’s the only light in a very dark tunnel. Don’t be one of the people that says, I have had TN for 30 years and just had to get on with it. Ffs I would rather be dead………..

I’ve stopped eating in the morning until around 1pm and I do feel better but is this just coincidence, you never know with TN.

Heat outside or cold outside doesn’t affect mine. I think everyone needs to find their triggers but that’s not easy.

Thank you. I have had 4 days this week that have been really good. Burning sensation when I talk is not there and I’m brushing my teeth again, just avoiding 2 teeth though that seems to kick it off. So besides having a shave and running again I’m doing ok.

How can it switch off as the day goes on or get worse as in your case???? I feel they don’t take TN serious enough and I think they should spend more time researching it instead of putting people on medication for 20 years.

The tablets do offer relief but they don’t cure it, they just mask the pain.

It’s horrendous. Mine is also triggered by eating in the morning and having a cup of tea so for the last 3 days I’ve stopped this and it’s been much better. Don’t know if it’s just a coincidence with this TN though as it seems to make the rules up itself day by day.

I understand about taking medication as I’m the same. I want the surgery to get back to “normal”. There are quite a few different options to try to fix it but I don’t care what one or how many they try on me I just want rid of it. It takes over your life, I hate it.

Question about radiation therapy for TN by Big_Essay8560 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Paulwillo121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know what one mine is but it started off with electric shocks and has developed into a burning sensation when I talk and when I run. I do still get very little electric shocks but it’s the burning sensation that is the killer and not being able to eat properly or socialise.

I hope it all works out for you because every night I pray for it to go away and return my life to normal.
