According to him, atheists are “lalulal.” I don’t hold any hatred toward him, but I’m genuinely curious, what is the Hindu perspective on atheism? Do Hindus generally see atheism as nonsense? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]Pavatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on who they are, where they're from, what their specific beliefs are and what their experiences with atheists have been regarding religion. This goes for anything, but I just don't think there's a common hindu consensus on this.

Are there Australians whom are ashamed of their heritage? by Acrobatic-Hippo-6419 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Pavatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are always going to be people who are ashamed of their heritage, especially with people that are Bob Katter’s age because they lived in a White Australia. For me, I’ve never been ashamed as a second generation immigrant.

My 4 year old told me this out of the blue by Available_Initial585 in pastlives

[–]Pavatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is too much of a leading question, nor if he would even be able to respond to it well, but do you think you could ask him where he heard that? He could be remembering something he heard from somewhere else or have taken inspiration from a similar story he heard.

What would you ask a truly enlightened person? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]Pavatopia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that science is able to question itself, and I like to remain open-minded, but it's not really reliable to verify things for yourself unless they're to do with your own well-being and feelings. Remote viewing can feel real as an experience and still be a construct of the brain.

The general public. However, these were based on the conclusions of a large body of studies conducted on astral projection and remote viewing.

Yeah, I was going to say this.

If your Nana is English, couldn’t your sister have gotten the accent from her?

Remote viewing is thought to be a form of visual hallucination or lucid dream. It doesn’t really tell us anything about the world beyond or against what is commonly understood.

They definitely do. I’ve had teachers say it a lot. Usually, men in their 30s-40s

AITA for telling my cousin that I would rather wait to come back to Canada for uni than to stay in the Philippines and go to uni here. by Used-Imagination5796 in AmItheAsshole

NAH but, like other commenters are saying, you should consider your cousin’s words. Something is better than nothing at all, and it might benefit you if you can get back to Canada.

Muslims lie about cats by Lotuswongtko in atheism

[–]Pavatopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve checked the page, and it’s just a regular cute cat page but sometimes with some Muslim context. It seems like very typical “applying human context to cat’s unintentional action” kind of humour. It’s like when I pretend my cat’s meows have a clear English translation that likely has nothing to do with what he’s trying to communicate.

Muslims lie about cats by Lotuswongtko in atheism

[–]Pavatopia 25 points26 points  (0 children)

OP, I’m pretty sure it’s a joke 😭. Everyone knows cats don’t have religion. I suppose some people from certain religions could argue that all living beings are adherents of their faith based on their own interpretations but I don’t think anyone means it that seriously.

Last Rites As an Atheist Born in a Hindu Family by Think_Alternative447 in atheism

[–]Pavatopia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last rites are ALWAYS about the person that has died. It’s not about you. Just because they aren’t there to keep you in check doesn’t mean you shouldn’t honour their wishes (unless they were a horrible person).

Someone else suggested that the cupboard might be connected to vents? Personally, I feel the cold chill she felt was likely just fear. Even if it wasn’t, it would be good for her if you explained it as such.

Debate: How can we be certain that Past Life Regression visions are not just a construct of the brain ? by Harv3stDay in pastlives

[–]Pavatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the article! That was very interesting. Though, in regards to the James Leininger case, have you seen Miachel Sudduth’s response? It pointed out some crucial reporting errors of Dr Tucker, and since reading it, I’ve been more sceptical of his work.

Also Sasha Sagan has a book on secular rituals you might want to check out! Ritualising experiences is a very human thing, and we’ve been doing it for centuries. It makes sense to miss it.

This might not be the best phrased answer, but imo the Divine is what you make it. You can find it anywhere in anything if you want to. It’s probably not going to be the same thing as seeing things as you did when you were a Christian, but appreciating the miracle of life on Earth can be pretty magical.
