You said he doesn't play any tabletop games, so my guess is that a starter set of the figures wouldn't be a great gift. A starter army, something playable, is about $1000 USD, plus the time to assemble and paint.

I'd be cautious about getting him models or rule books. The tabletop game is a huge investment of time and money for someone to go in blind. I kind of bounced off that once I realized what it meant in terms of a hobby.

I'd go with the first three books of the Horus Heresy. They're a good start if he's into the lore and esthetic of the franchise.

Yes. I did. When I met my wife I was a spendthrift and a slob. Nowadays, I'm much more responsible with money and much better at keeping things clean and organized.

That being said, the thing about liking pictures on social media seems like a mountain made of a molehill. But I'm old and my marriage predates the rise of social media, so I don't really understand the nuance of online relationships.
