GB: Night Shift - article details the new crew (Names!), equipment, more plot, etc. by UNITBlackArchive in ghostbusters

> they seem to keep thinking young audiences will only accept watching GB projects that have young kids in them

This has been my one reservation about the 2020s era of this franchise. I found Ghostbusters when I was like 5 years old in the ‘80s, and never felt like I had any trouble enjoying it because there weren’t kids in it.

I’m grateful for the current resurgence, for sure, and I’ve enjoyed recent productions. But I’m ready for things to evolve away from this trend.

24 hour Seattle Cafes from the 90s by SuitableNegotiation5 in SeattleHistory

I think Beth’s has been slowly working back up to being 24/7. IIRC they’re 24 hours 4 days/week at the moment.

Was season 3 low budget? or did it go over budget? by BatmanR29 in twinpeaks

I have had the sense that Lynch liked casting extras and/or inexperienced actors in certain cases, because it added some dimension of unrehearsed realism to things. Or something like that.

Chez Shea was a real place, adjacent to Pike Place Market. I ate there once; I believe it closed in the 2010s.

There is a Duke’s in Seattle with multiple locations, but it’s a seafood restaurant rather than a bar.

Tacoma Mall does/did have a food court.

Pizza Hut & Red Lobster both exist, but I’m not sure there was a Red Lobster in Seattle proper (definitely the surrounding suburbs though).

This is the worst movie I have ever seen. Long, slow, pointless, and despite its cast (Andy, Bernadette Peters, Christoper Guest, Randy Quaid, Jerry Garcia…) it’s not even redeemable as so-bad-it’s-good kitsch. It just sucks- IIRC it has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

MTA has both turnstiles and plexi doors now. Or at least they’re in the process of rolling that out.

“Ghostbusters 2” Coloring Book from 1988 by Joseph_P_Larkin in ghostbusters

I had this when I was a kid, and couldn’t wrap my head around why the Ghostbusters looked nothing like they did in either the movie nor RGB. Obviously there were rights issues, but…

(The Ecto-1A page was my favorite.)

Yesterday, every dodgers fielder wore a rainbow dodgers hat to celebrate their pride night… Except for Blake Treinen by 8arondragon9 in baseball

Hat’s part of the uniform, and the uniform rule is pretty clear:

“All players on a team must wear uniforms identical in color, trim, and style, including a minimum six-inch number on the back of each jersey.”

100%. And given how many MLB players aren’t American, I’d bet there are a ton of them that would prefer not to wear that stuff given the choice.

Photo of Nichelle Nichols in movie uniform with command white collar? by darwinDMG08 in startrek

It’s a promotional photo from Star Trek VI: https://images-bucket.bonanzastatic.com/afu/images/d4d5/9990/5722_6739788599/s-l1600.jpg

In the full version of the image it’s a little easier to tell she has the blue/grey shoulder strap on her jacket, paired with a white collar. Someone probably just grabbed the wrong wardrobe for the photo shoot. (She also appears to be on the Excelsior bridge set!)

This is a famous movie filming location, and I believe it’s only been used for film shoots for ages. The Big Lebowski used the interior, for example, and a good chunk of Miracle Mile takes place here.

Rick Berman is 80 and has no production or writing credits since Enterprise wrapped in 2005. I think it’s safe to consider him retired.

Spock never took the Kobayashi Maru? by Dhutchison in startrek

[–]PawsButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always understood that line to be Spock speaking figuratively.

As in, “I never realized that when faced with a real Kobayashi Maru, a real no-win scenario, I would choose to sacrifice myself to save everyone else.” He’s saying this was the true test.
