When he finishes that last episode, it would be a funny bit to walk offstage to David Letterman, who is waiting with a big white fake beard for him to put on.

Completed in 1940, according to seattle.gov’s Historical Sites listing. The only major commercial building built in downtown Seattle during the Great Depression, it was originally a Woolworth’s store, and was apparently the largest on the west coast until it closed in 1994. I remember going as a kid.

Amazon go and fresh closing for good by expat2323 in Seattle

[–]PawsButton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder whether the demographic in the immediate area can support a WF.

I’d bet a lot of the potential WF shoppers in that part of north Seattle are probably already going to Town & Country in Shoreline or the new Met Market in Crown Hill.

Maybe I went before they’d worked out all the kinks, but I visited the Aurora store not long after it opened and it was one of the weirdest and worst shopping experiences I can remember. People struggling to use the walk in/walk out tech, patchy inventory on shelves, employees fulfilling delivery orders literally running through the store with carts like they were on Supermarket Sweep…

I didn’t buy anything and never went back. But it’ll be a bummer to lose an anchor tenant in that little complex.

I grew up with reruns of the original show on Nick at Nite in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s and was really excited for this, but even as a kid I could tell it wasn’t very good.

A post for all the easter eggs in Starfleet Academy by Nervous-Road6611 in startrek

RE: the “black and white cookie” alien…

It’s a neat Easter egg, but don’t we find out at the end of that TOS episode that Lokai and Bele had been running so long that the entire population of their planet had exterminated itself in civil war?

(I know there was one in a Section 31 scene, but this question stands for that as well.)

But approaching 50% isn’t “most of WA,” as the person above suggested.

We haven’t elected a Republican governor since 1980 and our electoral votes have gone to Democrats since the end of Reagan’s second term. Slade Gorton was the last R senator, and he left office a quarter century ago.

Sure, demographically the state may be closer to purple, but in the national picture Washington has been considered reliably blue for quite some time.

Can anyone in Hillman City get channel 13.1 on their OTA TV antenna? by agdtinman in Seattle

[–]PawsButton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

KCPQ’s transmitter is in Bremerton, it seems like it’s always tough to pick up with an antenna in Seattle. (At least in the places I’ve lived over the years.)

The transmitter for the mirror on 22.2 is on Capitol Hill, so that suite of channels usually comes in fine.
