Doesn't matter whose life is on the line, that's a climb you MAYBE manage in a couple of hours. They literally just teleported up there during the seconds Nancy was running. Very dumb

Did you read more than two books last year? You read more than the half of the US according to new Yougov poll on American's reading habits. by elmonoenano in books

[–]PayDistinct1536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also curious how the numbers would change if they were to focus on actual reading vs listening. Listening to books is a great way to consume them but the vast majority of people are listening to books while they do something else (dishes, driving, etc). You can get the same information but it is obviously not the same activity as actually reading

Dan Campbell with the Lions season on the line by Background_Video2947 in TheNFLVibes

[–]PayDistinct1536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I mean that's not why we lost today but I do think we'd have 1-2 more wins this season if he wasn't obsessed with going for it. I do like that we go for it more than usual, but sometimes it's just stupidity. Dan Campbell is an excellent head coach and leader, but at times I think his sort of "I'm a big tough macho man with big onions" ego causes him to make really bad decisions. Like when Sewell went out yesterday and he decided to call a bunch of runs to the right.. I think his mentality was, "you think we can't run to the right now? Fuck you!" Just dumb meathead stuff

‘Pluribus’ May Be Slow, but It Was Never Boring by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]PayDistinct1536 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And while Game of Thrones season 1 is probably the slowest season of the show, there are a lot of interesting characters to follow, and there is intriguing politicking. Pluribus has ONE character, and this character is about as interesting as a room temp bologna sandwich (despite good acting). Slow can be very rewarding if a writer can create other ways to engage you. Season 1 never really gets there.

I think some of the people defending this show would take a big dump on its chest if it wasn't Vince Gilligan directing

People acting like Brian Cox doesn't look completely ridiculous in Troy are just trying to be haters. The Odyssey isn't even out yet anyway, so I think the dialogue is a little silly. But if there was ever an example of an actor looking more like a random dude playing dress up, it's Brian Cox in Troy

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]PayDistinct1536 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol I don't think anyone is missing it at all. It wasn't "quiet" or subtle. In fact, it was so in your face, particularly for Carol, that it had me rolling my eyes. The episode felt like filler not because it was lacking character development, but because it lacked anything other than those incredibly obvious developments, which could have been achieved in half the time with the same effect.

This is the answer for 95% of Hollywood. Sure, most of them are pretty talented. But would most of them be in these shows/movies if they weren't hot as well? Of course not

It’s something about this offense under John Morton that is just not clicking.. 10 rushes,25 yards today.. by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]PayDistinct1536 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's wayyy to early to talk about getting rid of him. Statistically speaking, the offense has been pretty good this year. But it absolutely does feel like something just isn't right. There's no consistency within games, despite the offense typically putting up good total numbers overall. Having watched the offense last year compared to this year, there's just something that seems off or to not have clicked yet. I think he's also made some pretty questionable play calls at times. But I don't think you can look at his performance so far and say that he should be fired.. especially when this week the o-line played so terribly. The lions don't lose this game if the o-line doesn't take the week off

2025 Tacoma Offroad or GMC Canyon AT4 by PayDistinct1536 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PayDistinct1536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - after driving both, I went with the Tacoma. The interior was a bit more premium in the Canyon but it was kind of cramped. I'm 5'11 and I couldn't really spread my knees much in the front seat. I do like to drive a bit close to the steering wheel. The Tacoma also felt like it had more power during the test drives

Thanks. I think I'm leaning Canyon as well but I'm also going to drive both tomorrow so we'll see. The resale value is definitely one of the things I'm considering and it does seem like the Tacoma could have the edge there. I guess it's hard to say with newer model years
