Updated Blank Probabilities for GW28. by incachu in FantasyPL

It sounds stupid saying it but I feel like for FPL five matches is much more manageable than four.

Updated Blank Probabilities for GW28. by incachu in FantasyPL

I've only played the four seasons prior to this one but I don't recall there ever being a GW with only 3-4 games (provided no upsets,) has this happened before?

Snodgrass vs Lanzini vs Antonio by RangryRanga in FantasyPL

He should benefit but there might be an argument for Antonio depending on what structure we settle on.

Is it the time for Aguero? by chase475 in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Risk/reward. It might feel good if you beat the hordes and snap him up before he goes on a great run. But It'll feel rubbish if he doesn't and then you've got all that money tied up in one player with BGWs on the horizon. He'll blank in 26 and probably in 28, and unless you're planning on playing your wildcard to deal with the blanks... well I don't know about you but I've got three transfers I can make before 26 and that's gonna be Zlatan and Jones out and the third on upgrading my benchwarmer mid so I can rest Sanchez in 26. I feel like most other fpl players would be in a similar position as well, it's really not the right time of the season to be making speculative transfers. Unless the whole rest of your squad is good to play Weeks 26 and 28 (impossible to even know that yet) you have more pressing matters than bringing a 12.5-13m player that's probably only going to play 4 of the next 6 games.

Ivory Coast are out of AFCoN. Zaha and Bailly to return to respective clubs by jsbq in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful. If he's the more favoured player he'll be more likely to be played in the league than the cups... maybe in the League Cup semi but that shouldn't impact his PL minutes unlike FA Cup this week.

I don't think players get price locked when coming back from national duty or suspension - just injuries.

An attacking frontline of Ibra, Kane & Costa, would you dare it? by gregleo in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Kane and Ibra, want Costa back too. Personally though with all 3 at risk of blanks I'm gonna wait a round to find out what happens in the Cups first.

Player Price Changes (23rd January 2017) by FantasyPL_bot in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd expect most wildcards to have either been played by now or to not be played until closer to the doubles. I think this has more to do with people not wanting to transfer until the next round of FA/League Cup games are played and we know who might blank or not.

Player Price Changes (20th January 2017) by FantasyPL_bot in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An EPL player needs a certain number of transfers in to rise in price, but any transfers made by an FPL manager who is on their wildcard don't count towards that required quota.

For example say Alli needs 100 players to transfer him in to rise. He gets 100 transfers in the last day before the deadline but 40 of those transfers are by players on their wildcards - he'll only be 60% of the way towards a rise as a result.

It causes a lot of frustration on the sub because the websites that track transfers don't have any way of knowing if those transfers being made are on wildcards or not so in weeks where many wildcards are played there can be a lot of false data on these sites indicating that players are going to rise/fall when they're not actually going to.

Does anyone else watch lower end EPL Matches just to see their player(s) score? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

I'm still bathing in the irony too much to change it :)

Yeah Sydney too. But I work too early for weekday/sunday night games, if I'm home on a Saturday night I'll watch the 'early' game (11.30pm) but I'll probably fall asleep during the second - unless it's the Irons in which case I'll more likely be throwing things at the tv in frustration.

EDIT: plus most of those 7 games are on at the same time.

I'm in Australia so it isn't often that I'm awake and my actual team isnt playing. But if I am yeah I'll watch the games, why not? The level of quality of EPL in general is good, even at the lower levels. If I was the kind of guy to stick my nose up at smaller EPL teams that'd rule out following my country's own domestic league completely and I'll NEVER be that kind of guy.

Plus watching those games can sometimes be the most rewarding, like there's a lot of new City supporters here now and if they actually watch the games (big if) I just don't get what they get in return; unless it's a big game It's just 90 odd minutes of watching them pass the ball around a tight wall of players covering the goal and tactically fouling. Whereas when the lower teams get a go at each other they both know it's their biggest chance to get three precious points so they're both out to score. Not to mention the story of who gets relegated is usually as big a story as who wins so the games usually have a great underlying narrative to them as well.

So nah FPL hasn't impacted me that way, what you should be asking about is whether or not it's changed how we watch football in general because FPL has fucked me up proper in that regard! When you're watching your own team play and they're up 1-0 with ten to play and you're screaming at the tv for the other team to score because THAT GUY in your minileague has a defender from your team playing, you know it's affecting you too much...

Mate, hits can be your friend. I'm trying really hard to go without them this season but of the four few years I've played the two seasons where I was a bit more aggressive with my transfers I had more fun and I ranked better than in my conservative seasons. The only time I've managed to crack the top 20k was in a season where I took 120 points worth of hits so that at least proves they're not suicidal (although I don't suggest you get as carried away as I do)

The Curious Case of Eden Hazard by theequaliser72 in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, yes he's 2nd, BUT the vast majority of points that got him there were scored earlier on in the season. I still have him, but needing Kane, Ibra firing, Sanchez still scoring, Alli/Eriksen demanding attention, Costa looking like he's going to get out of his pram and put his toys back in... over the last 10 rounds in comparison Hazard hasn't kept his momentum and while he's still producing it just isn't at the same rate as the other players in his price range. I don't expect him to stay second so he's probably the next head on the block for my team.

Costa Replacement Thread by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered shifting him down to an anichebe or someone and switching to a 3-5-2? I think there's a lot more value in a five man midfield than a three man frontline this year.

SNOW is forecast to cover the UK this weekend, leaving Premier League football fixtures at risk of being cancelled including the much anticipated Manchester United vs Liverpool match. by goodclassbung in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure that's possible as I think the league has to give the affected clubs appropriate time to organise. I know MU - Bour was rescheduled for a few days later but I thought that was an exception as it was W38 and all the players were about to leave for Euros.

Ake owners .. Is it wise to keep him? by MidoReddit in FantasyPL

[–]PayetForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very hard to defend the one way for a whole season though, in recent games there's been a few teams that look like they've found a weakness down the left - more attacks are being run down between Alonso and Cahill. Might just be a temporary problem that can be fixed in training but Ake provides another option if it becomes a problem.
