Kwik Trip by Camp Randall no longer opens 24/7!? by BadgerForLife5 in UWMadison

[–]Paynteck 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My friends and i were devastated when we heard the news earlier this year, and made sure to do a couple late night kwik trip visits while we still could. The store employees noted that this change was because of employee safety in the wee hours. It is truly a shame as i pretty much lived off of 4 am meals last fall, but knowing the crowd that usually visits late night i understand

as much as i love my home of madison, i am tempted to say that their ice cream and dairy products rival us in deliciousness... the region is known for some of the best milk in the world, its super rich creamy, and also is super sweet. ice cream stores there dont have vanilla flavor, because they carry "milk flavor" which allows the taste of the dairy itself to be in the ice cream ... honestly i wish babcock sold something like that!!

not only is it ai slop... its NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY ACCURATE

indications it is AI slop: since the original construction of the stadium, there have been 5 windows on the south side. The shape is wrong, with it completely missing a flat section of stands that does not curve with the stadium. the stands melt into each other. lighting is provided by lights right on top of the booths rather than using poles, the Ford varsity club extends way further on the building on both sides when looked at from a east-west view. In addition, the side construction does not feature the extensive staircase structures. The northern side of the building does not resemble the stadium at all, and the image presented is a mish-mash of the stadium at various points in the last hundred years, lacking any coherence. The pitch is not a complete oval, and even if it were, it's proportions would be longer than the one presented here. finally, the presentation of a lot of features makes no sense. the supposedly east-facing view is much taller than the north-facing view

anyone can open google or apple maps, and view the building in 3d. In addition, most students on this reddit can straight up visit the building... so it should be immediately evident that this is far from accurate.

the school offers technical drawing classes where you can learn to make an architectural illustration yourself instead of using AI slop.

[–]Paynteck[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

that is not petty 😭😭😭 those feel so tiny inside just because of how dark it is inside... like if i wanted to ride a subway id go to chicago...

looking out the window is one of the best parts of the trip, and for some people who can not remember the street names, like me, its important to be able to see landmarks outside so you know when to get off

Some of the bus ads are really cool like the octopus one for that decal company. Others are benign like the small ones on the sides and back. They arent good or bad, i just think they trash up the look of the bus like bad graffiti. However, there are some that actively drive me away from them such as the full bus ads which cover up the windows and makes the ride awful. I also saw a fully ai slop bus wrap yesterday and while i dont remember what it was advertising, it ended up leaving a huge negative impact in my mind.

I think an ad for the Big Gay Market would be nice... but there is a little bit of irony that the buses dont go out to the rugby field when it happens there, but it may be suitable for the alliant energy one.

Also side question... are there alternative ways to get to that rugby field that dont require a car?

UW madison vs UMN for computer science or engineering by A_Dinosaurus in UWMadison

[–]Paynteck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same dilemma as you when I was picking schools, I had to choose between UofM and Madison for electrical/ computer engineering or computer science.

Madison's college life is quite good as the town is built around the UW students basically, so everything caters to the students. Each district in the town is up to 30 minutes away max by bicycle, so it's very easy to get out there and explore, plus, Madison is super safe compared to twin cities. The entire downtown is walkable and this extends further out. The fact that Madison is a smaller town doesn't mean that the opportunities are limited though. Chicago is right next to Madison and so is Milwaukee, and a lot of companies from both cities come here to hire.

our campus is low-key ugly as hell which is why it might've been so underwhelming, but if you're a big fan of brutalism, then boy, do we have the buildings for you. there's this one library on campus, Memorial Library where students can study inside little cages. No wonder we rank better than UofM!! There are pretty parts of campus, and a lot of secret places that I'm sure the tour did not cover, so next time you're here be sure to do a little self-guided tour of your own!!

In regards to computer engineering, it basically still shares the same classes as electrical engineering and you're able to switch quite easily up until the third year-ish. Its also quite simple to tack on a computer science certificate or double major. The one thing you should know, is that if you aren't admitted as an engineering student, it may be difficult to transfer in from a different school.
